SCG Campaign Sundays

Last saturday SCG took part in the Tanks in flames tournament, I was away and couldnt take part nor was Neun and some other tankers and outnumbered 1/3 we managed to push the other team back and took sectors back that we had lost earlier.
Thanks to excellent leadership from Hitman(thanks for this screenshot!) and Schleifer, and with our tank members who could show up: Vonalba, Baryonyx, Colmack, we surely hit hard, in the spirit of SCG ?

Next saturday we will play with allied tanks in the tournament and we will do our best and fight like lions, and hopefully whole unit will be able to take part.

On yesterdays tanks in flames tournament, our side played allieds.

We split our tank forces to dedicated groups with a plan in mind as soon as the match started we set off.

We cut off the area in the north in the first sector and reported in the movements of the enemy side, and inside the town we set up traps and engaged and as it became a slugging match, I sent in 2 other tanks into the town to trap the german tanks inside and help in retaking the flags in there. The other group managed to take out several heavy german tanks and retake one of the flags and as our airwing had taken out the enemy HQ, we wont he sector.

In the next sector we headed towards two directions and adapted our unit for the task and I used one of the repair bridge tanks to get the bridge in the north fixed, while the other group went to the local town and secured it but soon 2 enemy panthers tried to attack with some luck, we lost 2 tanks but took the panthers out and focused on holding the area.

While me and the other group went for the north but found ourself trapped as the enemy side had found the flag before us and set up a killzone in a forest, me and 3 others were taken out but Schleifer in su 152 took out several ones of the enemy forces, while we relocated to help keep the town in our hands as the enemy side tried to capture it and we captured the third flag instead, soon the air wing bombed the HQ and we won this sector.

In the last sector our air wing had already bombed the HQ so we needed to capture the flags needed so we dashed off and used the fast speed of the allied tanks and captured the flag in the village in the center, and the third group went south and tried there but saw 2 tigers coming up so had to wait for a chance to take them out, sent more tanks down south to help. While in the first group me and 2 others went north and found the flag and drove to it while we saw 3 enemy tanks firing at us, used the terrain and the area around the flag and the t-34s speed to get to it and then just survive long enough. Soon we managed to capture the flags needed and after this all sectors was won and we focused on hunting down the last german tanks alive.

In just one hour we had managed to win the match and showed that the german tanks in certain situations might be better but allied tanks can just as easily take them out and have other advantages, plus a great team and tactics of SCG we managed to pull off a impressive victory.

IF people on this forum dont know what SCG is: we are a tank group who play semi military style and in our own events uses as hsitorical tactics and radio talking and realism as possible, and when playing together and in tournaments etc we play like mentioned above and as a team with officers and commanders leading and planning. Having fun together when we play as well and we in our group has dead is dead rules and various setups for our events, and lots of historical missions from ww2 where we try to beat it, and sometimes play against eachothers and have training sessions and much more. From what we know we are the first tank unit/clan of Tank crew/IL-2.

Sundays historic mission from 2 weeks ago, the german assault on the russian lines goes on. ORders from high command was to attack and capture the town located next to the current front line. The soviet side after last days of defeats are trying to secure the front and hold this town for a planned counterattack and will do their best to hold and counterattack.

I decided for a attack from the west side of the front and split our unit to two sections, one attacking from southwest while the support unit attacked from direct west. Main unit was a mix of Tiger and Panzer IV tanks while the support unit used Panthers mainly. My plan was to attack from the west and knock out the towns defenses in the north and then proced east and encircle the town.

Soon orders was given to the squad leaders and I gave the go ahead for the attack.

We soon started and made good progress and once we were north west of the town, the Squad under shcleifers command needed their flanks protected so I sent one panther to protect their left flank and me and the other panthers secure their right.

We went on and soon was north of the base and started to attack and engaged a couple of T-34s and SU 152s.
Soon we had knocked out several anti tank guns and we got shot by some rapid firing guns, which eluded us but squad 1 reported in anti tank guns which was taken out soon and a soviet AAA truck which one of my panthers took out. Soon we had overrun this part of the town and headed east to complete the encirclement. I although saw 2 T-34s behind us to the west so I engaged them and had them knocked out. It was then I got report from a Panther that it was under attack and detracked, I ordered Bary to follow me while I gave order for one panther to follow squad 1 in their attack east.

We went inside the town and heard sound from a T-34 and him shoting at the stranded panther but we got there too late as the panther tank was taken out. We turned off our engines and waited and soon we located the direction and me and bary split up and hunted, soon we found the T-34 and engaged him, he was trying to hide behind a burned out building but soon we had killed him.
We then returned back to the main unit which was under attack after they had completed the encirclement and even lost several tanks.

We then relocated the attack from the south of the town and launched a offensive in the east part of it, we soon managed to knock out important buildings and defences and a couple of enemy tanks but I did a mistake and went inside the town with our big panthers and the enemy tanks soon picked us off from the flanks. Squad 1 fell back and was saved as we changed the attack.
After we relocated we launched an attack again from the south but we went north west and just followed the towns outline in the distance, using the forest to hide ourself as we advanced to a predetermined point where we would turn right and face north and attack the last objectives in the town from afar and going towards it with our front armour facing the enemy, no buildings in the way and using the advantage of the german tanks to the max.

We soon found enemy bunkers and anti tank guns in the distance and engaged and moved in at a slow pace. We lost one Panzer IV due to a soviet tank trying to attack from the right, but it was soon sighted and taken out, as we moved towards the last strongout of the enemy.

Soon we had taken out at least 6 more enemy tanks as we were almost inside their base and blew up their last bunkers and defences and soon overrun the position, and we soon secured the town and had accomplised our mission.
