Looks really good. Fully clickable interior, lots of details. Definitely something to wait for.

Looks ambitious, but since it's a one-man development team, I really wanna get a better sense of the rate of progress before I get my hopes up.

Agreed, and the clickable interiors won't make it easier to develop. At least he makes one thing right, start with the PzKpfw IV as opponent of the T34. The PzKpfw III might have been the main battle tank from numbers for a long time, but you need to have a good gameplay when starting such a game, and here the PzKpfw IV makes much more sense.

Looks like an interesting development. Clickable cockpits might be its downfall in the long run though. Imo there are too many things to model per tank for a one man team.

Spanish developer? I didn't know that you can mirror inscriptions in soviet gunsights ? Sound of V-2 diesel resembles our czechoslovak Praga V3S ?

The current map for the combat operations is 'Stalingrad Oblast' a map based on the fields between Ukraine and the old city of Stalingrad of 400 square kilometers.

Didn't know that Stalingrad oblast was 20x20km stretching from Dnepr to Don ?

+ multiplayer only...mein Gott, wrong decision right of the bat ?

Looks cool with the interactive crew compartments.

Nothing beats the combined arms in IL-2 though. Seeing a group of planes attacking targets in the distance from a tank commander's perspective is something that I can't properly put into words.

This one-man-development guy should get on board talented community from Steel Fury = creators of Steel Panzer MOD, or even some old "farts" from Panzer Elite modding community. Otherwise I see a long and thorny road ahead without the light at the end of the tunnel.

It took me about 10 seconds to go to the dudes site and read this:

"This is a single person project; this means that, at the moment, only one person is working on all the stuff (models, code, systems, web page and more), and, of course, the full simulator project cannot be completed with the work of only one person, so it is essential the funding."

I just wanted to bring that to your attention.

The design choice of having tanks, planes and ships is disappointing. If you have a Tank game there should be infantry and vise versa. So in turn even if the AFV simulation is really nice, tactically it won't mean jack because you won't be working with infantry.

Kinda goes without saying at this point... but when the Stug III gets released I'll buy it for sure lol. Also kinda stoked to see the BT-7 and Pz. 38T on the list. The Sig 33B would be fun with proper missions/targets/objectives.!

EDIT: the difference of using "magical mouse aiming" vs. having to actually use specific controls for elevation and traverse will make this gameplay very interesting indeed!

EDIT #2: There is already day and night cycle with 20x20km map that include AI units, bunkers, trenches, AT guns in forest ect - while not complete or polished this is definitely in the right direction!!! There is an offline training mission. There is AI. Combine those two factors and there might be "play" room for you singleplayer fans out there. Just an observation...

Bumping this thread.

Latest video showcases even more clickable/usable features inside the PzKpfw. IV. In particular I love the fact that you can raise, lower or move your head in very small incremental amounts. This sort of mechanic combined with the clickable tank components actually provides the user with a REAL simulator.

I suggest watching the other videos and browsing the Steel Gear Simulator site. Unfortunately the old forums have been removed.

Plenty of third-parties offer it. BI for example does it as a service for studios all over the world, as do many other studios.

Hello everyone,
little question, do any of you have this game / have you tested it?

https://www.steelgearsimulator.com/

it looks quite nice to me: it's certainly less beautiful (although some effects are better...), and the content seems limited for the moment (but it's also a bit the case here... .), but for something in alpha, done by one person, it's pretty crazy, full of detail in the control of his tank...

I hesitate to spend $20 on it, if someone has tested it...

I've been keeping an eye on it - there are certainly some aspects of the game that look very cool (the armor hit effects on your tank are really neat.) however for as much potential as this game shows, it's far behind what we already have here.  And I think the most disappointing thing is the lack of progress with their product.   We complain that the developers at TC are slow.  From that perspective, TC looks like a formula one race car when compared to the development on SB.   Worth checking back with from time to time however.

Mouai, finally, how many are there in the TC studio? because opposite, to be fair, he is all alone... so in terms of productivity...

just for that, in view of the work done, it seems like really good to me...

Considering that Tank Crew is kind of a stinker I think Steel Gear will eventually be the better option.

I haven't tested it either, but IIRC someone else mentioned this in a thread on this forum a long time ago. I remember having a look then and thinking it definitely has potential.

I think at this point what you would be doing by downloading it is supporting the project. But if you haven't already, you should really check out all of the videos on his channel. The amount of detail he models into the tanks is amazing. And I agree with you, it does seem really good to me too.

As an example, here is his tutorial on using the T-34 gun sight:

Well it certainly doesn't have to be, it just depends if the Dev's can free themselves from the flight SIM side things. But yeah at the moment, it feels like they dropped the ball.

How would you know?  You don't appear to own it.

that's what I did, but I have to stop, it's making me drool too much...

all the modules do not always seem to appear under the names, I had "this bug" when I bought the extensions...

but the opinion is well settled in any case

Yeah I know what you mean, did you see the video on interior smoke. Its absolutely brilliant! After firing a number of rounds to show smoke buildup, he switches on the turret ventilation system so you can watch the fumes being evacuated. But my favorite I think has to be the gyrocompass. He has modeled every feature/function of the device right down to the gyro-speed alarm.

For anyone that might be interested, but hasn't seen it yet...

To bad it is MP only. So for that reason alone a pass.

My understanding is that there is a SP component as well. I believe in at least some of the videos I have watched, he is demonstrating the vehicles against Ai. In fact in the first video linked below all of the tanks are controlled by Ai. But that video is a few years old, and the SIM has apparently seen a number of updates. Anyone interested in the type of improvements should check out the second video linked below, but that is also more than a year old I think.

You are right. I reread the website (reading is still an art :)

Play with friends or against them. This is a multiplayer-based simulator so you will find other people in your side and the enemy side. Also, due to the size of the maps, there will be NPC units, and their behavior will be, as close as possible, as the players.

Forum account isn't bound to steam account.

I do own it and spent quite a bit of time playing it with SCG
