How to get plane I want in career?

I want to fly the la5fn in the Kuban campaign. every time I start a career that has the la5fn I get the lag3.   Is there a way to get an LA allocated to me?   Please before someone ways but in rel like I couldn't pick . Its a game  I just want to play missions in the plane I want and have some fun .

You have to select the squadron that flies the La5FN. Mouse over the squadrons or click on the airbases to see which ones are where and scroll down to see the planes they fly. Alternatively you can uncheck all the boxes on the left except for the La5 and then it will only show you La5 Squadrons.

 

If I remember correctly the La5FN model doesn't come in until the 2nd phase of Kuban so it will be greyed out for the first phase. You can simply start the career at the phase when the FN is introduced if you wish

My late squadron has LA5fn's they just wont let me fly one. They give me a lagg3. Even if I get a mission with a la the next missions in a lagg!!

Start the career as commanding officer and you will be able to change planes assigned to pilots as you like. If you don't want to lead the flight you can just place yourself as the last member of each flight and leave the AI to do the leading

Select the La5fn squad and make urself co from the start 

Unassign yourself from all missions and keep hitting next next next until about 10-15 days into the LAST phase (Only with LA5FN! Except pwgc!!) You.ll get a typical resupply message except you'll see the first La5fns.  

You only get about 21-30 days before its over.
