rowdyb00t Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 I’ve done a search for this answer and found that it’s an unsolved issue at least for VR. I was tossing the idea around about getting a 2080ti but I thought it would be cheaper for me to add another 1080ti.
Jason_Williams Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Rowdy, Very few of our customers have SLI and VR, but it should work with VR and I have confirmed this with my lead programmer when this question had come up before. But remember, the more powerful the two cards the smaller the gain. I would go with the 2080ti. I have one and it's great. Jason 1 1
-LUCKY-ThanksSkeletor Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 (edited) I can also confirm that sli works with 2 1080ti's. But as Jason said i would go with the 2080ti, the gaming industry and card manufacturers are slowly phasing out SLI tech and you can run into some super strange compatibility issues and trouble running certain titles. get the 2080ti! you wont regret it. Field-Ops Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Wouldnt bother with SLI, sold my other 1080ti not too long ago and will just hang onto that until another generation comes out.

I'm using one for VR and it work wonders.
dburne Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Very pleased with my EVGA RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 with VR. Also though keep in mind a lot depends on balance with the rest of the system.
FretterFretter Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 John Williams says that he has confirmed with his lead programmer that SLI SHOULD work in VR. Well, I have confirmed with my actual computer system that has two RTX 2080 Tis in SLI and a Pimax 5K Plus VR headset that SLI in VR, at least for IL-2, does NOT work. One GPU is at about 90% load, whereas the other is at less than 10% load maximum.
Lusekofte Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 I would not personally change my 1080 ti for a 2080 ti. All people writing about it say the gain is marginal in many games. I wait out a card worth changing to. I fly this game and DCS with Rift S. If I had a better more demanding VR I might have done it. Or build a new pc.

Just because it doesn't work as you expect it to, doesn't mean it doesn't work. Your issue lies probably with the VR companies and Nvidia, not us. Do you get more frames with SLI and VR than without? If yes, it's working. SLI has always been a strange feature for sims. My advice is just having a really nice single card. Jason 2
