Is the IL-2GB in-game 'Limit VR View' correctly calibrated?

I ask the question because my perception is that the limited head movement is calibrated to sense the outer edge of the VR headset I am wearing.

I would expect the limited head movement to be calibrated to sense (or at least allow for) the outer edge of my head, not the VR headset.

As a consequence, I feel like I am being robbed of approximately 9 cm of head movement.  I say 9 cm because that is approximately how far my Pimax 5k+ VR headset protrudes in front of my head when worn.

It seems like the IL-2GB 'Limit VR View' simulates me sitting in a real aircraft with a VR headset on my head, rather than me sitting in a real aircraft without a VR headset on my head.  For example, it seems like the forward edge of the VR headset is contacting the cockpit canopy at a distance in front of my head, rather than my head contacting the canopy.

Is anyone else feeling the same way, or is it just me?

Thanks to anyone kind enough to reply.

Happy landings,

You make a good point.  Likewise, rotating in a swivel chair may require that you also lean forward or backwards a little to maintain your head's original position relative to your chair's center of rotation, too.

Also, regarding the proper calibration of a person's IPD may require more then simply inputting your IPD number; rarely the distance between a person's nose and their left & right pupils are equal distance, so proper IPD measurement requires the use of an offset number to better center your IPD within the screen's IPD input setting.  My IPD is 65, but the center of my nose is equal distance between both pupils, or 32.5 distance to both pupils...

Rift S user. Agree, the head movement restriction feels too limiting. It's like your head is twice its size and the cockpit starts moving before you've gone anywhere near the glass. Found it particularly evident in the FW190A5 last night.

Strange, I've used the Vive, and now the Index, and both feel absolutely fine in the planes I use, including the Fw's.

I feel the "closeness" I can get to the perspex is spot on, mind you I haven't used TrackIR in il-2, that gives a false impression of view, especially to the rear!

Something seems incorrect, because different aircraft seem to have different calibration for 'Limit VR View'.

(Please note that I am not talking about the amount of space to move in a cockpit, as the amount of space to move is different from aircraft to aircraft.)

For example, I find that I can lean my head much closer to the gunsight and canopy Perspex in a La5 than I can in the Spitfire IX.  'Limit VR View' seems to take effect further away from cockpit obstacles in the Spitfire, but allows my head nearer cockpit obstacles in the La5.  What I am finding is an inconsistency between different aircraft cockpits in relation to the distance at which 'Limit VR View' is activated when my head moves towards a physical obstruction in the cockpit.

Happy landings,

This was a big issue a year ago. I whined about it a lot. They actually increased the size of the limits quite substantially. I don't expect them to increase them again.
