Rubber bands don't fix everything.

My first video BTW.  :)

Interesting....  This guy doesn't show up in any of my sortie logs on the WoL stats page.

If that was a track then you could replay it with icons turned on of course to see who it was and see what his logs showed.      I would not automatically assume he was deliberately causing the rubber banding though.    I had a few minutes of rubber banding a few days ago, luckily not while in combat though it did give my wingman a few scares :-),  then it went away.

The track only shows plane types when the icons are on.  I had already fought this guy for a good 3 minutes to get behind him.  Only when he was in my gunsight did I notice this lagging.  That's when I hit record.

I'm still figuring out how to record on the fly, so bear with me.   If I would have already had it figured out when I got into that fight, I could have recorded the server messages as well.

Then you would get to see the 2 chuckleheads at the end congratulate each other for a "good kill" while it was me all along who hurt that 109 bad enough they could steal the kill as he skidded to a stop on the ground.

I mention that the 109 doesn't show up in my server logs because he doesn't.  The sorties I flew in a Yak-7 last night show I killed some 110's and a 111.  I was fairly shot down by 109's but, this was the only 109 I managed to hit with my guns for that whole map .  There's no server stats record of it.

It's very similar to a Ju-87 I encountered a couple of weeks ago.  It was doing short (and sometimes long) jumps forward when I turned on it.  I unloaded almost a full load of La-5 20mm directly into it at 100m while successfully avoiding the gunner.  I am positive that at least 5 to 10 of the direct hits I dealt out were fatal but Mr. Stuka just kept going.  I went Winchester and went home.  He too was completely absent from the sortie logs when I looked.

That's why I recorded this when I noticed the lag.

The irony is that if this guy was flying normally, and not zipping around "un-naturally", he would have been a bit harder to keep track of and get into a good position on.

edit:  I just looked again at the raw recorded track.  When I turn the labels on, the Spitfire has a label over it.  The second friendly that's there has a label.  The 109 does not.  That's right. With labels turned on in the replay, the 109 still has no label.  Very strange indeed.

And that was when the 109 was closer to you than the spits?  That is very odd and should be reported to the devs.  Not necessarily as an instance of cheating but to advise them of a possible bug.  Make a video showing the icons.

I watched the track from his perspective and at first the label was not on even though the labels were on the Spitfire.  The label on the G2 did reappear while I was spinning the camera around him.  So, yeah probably a bug.  The lag on the 109 is also interesting because I'm flying well-synced (lag-wise) with the friendlies and he's darting around like a crack addicted gnat, but when you watch from his view, the three of us are doing the same.

BTW I'm not making any statements about what I think is going on with the lag jumping.  I just made the video.

Besides, I think I can give myself a pat on the back for some good flying and shooting despite the circumstances, and I'm going to. :)

I remember some issues from old school.

Some pilots as soon you take his 6 they just press

print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr, print scr

Good God, that had to be annoying.

What's even more annoying is when you only have one chance to shoot and right when your crosshair lines up right, they suddenly lag away a few millimeters to one side.  Then, their buddy shoots you from behind.

What's even more annoying is when you're chasing an enemy and they panic quit when they know you'll get them.  They disappear out in front and when you break away to go to the next objective or begin to climb a bit, their friend gets you.

What's even worse than that is knowing the name of the panic quitter and being disappointed because in all other interactions with him, he seemed like the type not to do such petty crap.  :(

That is correct, normally you have only one shoot, but for me the worse situation is when the lagging boy made a transposition in time and space and appears right at your 6.

I probably won't post videos too often but, I will try to make ones that are interesting and reflect my player experience with IL-2.  There will be thrills, spills, chills and plain old derps. lol

Most of it will be first person recorded but, it won't all be GUUNNNCAMMM  GLOOORRRRYYY!

Can wait for the next one.

I tried to upload one, normally I use OBS to record videos, only first person.

LOL nice..

Still the best way to handle lag (client side)
Versus WT with hit detection and server side.

Here my ping to EU server from AUS is only half my trip time as only client side hit calcs are counted.
in WT Aussie pings are like 700ms 2 times the ping to EU as it has to shuffle hit info back and forth to compare and check it for hacks.
