SeriousFox Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 You can make it blue by changing mixture setting. ( ) 2
Mastermariner Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 There is a good video how to manage mixture etc on Master
ACG_Kraut Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Also airplanes don't have mufflers. (I know what you meant, just giving you are hard time) Edited April 2, 2014 by 4./JG26_Kraut 1
Feathered_IV Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I thought this was going to be a fashion thread.
HagarTheHorrible Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I thought this was going to be a fashion thread. Silly you, but not as silly as me, I thought it was maybe pictures of a Scottish girl taking her kit off
71st_AH_Cujo Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) I thought the way to to that was to listen for rpm drop with altitude gain and lean until max rpms are achieved. I'm a little confused. What exactly is best power mixture used for combat. Do I lean after initial climb to achieve blue flame even though the rpm will go down? Edited April 2, 2014 by Cujo
Finkeren Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I thought the way to to that was to listen for rpm drop with altitude gain and lean until max rpms are achieved. I'm a little confused. It's hard to hear those small varaitions in rpm (if they are modelled that smoothly at all), but you can look at the tachometer and see if you can make out the rise and fall in rpm. This was the easy way to do it in RoF, however, you can't do that easily with a plane that has a constant speed propeller, where the pitch governor is constantly correcting to maintain a constant rpm. However, the governor always lags just a Little behind, and you can actually see the small fluctuations just at the moment you adjust mixture. It's not that easy to do however, at it definately limits your situational awareness when you have to focus on the tachometer every time you adjust mixture. It's propably better to watch the flames in solo flight and just memorize the approximate settings for different altitudes.

Mastermariner Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Thank the Guru Requiem! Im only the Messenger Master
dave9810 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Easiest way to remember it is, Rich orange colour = rich mixture
