Been trying to come to grips with the TARGET software lot ........

Has anyone been successful in creating a working setup? THIS for Great Battle Games only. Good ole 1946 (compliments towards Oleg) and Cliffs run fine with a T16000M-TWCS set.

All the tutorials found on Youtube (Arrggh, all those well meaning ' talking heads' with their endless egos and mostly useless bla bal), and various forum reads, didn't get me going with TARGET, one must be a computer nerd here.

Q: I begin to think that if you start any Great Battles game and afterwards change something in keymappings, it screws up the setup made before with Target's GUI stuff.

TIP: The TARGET script editor BTW crashes on running a scrip in windows 10 64bit.

This fixes it, really simple: Navigate to Program Files (x86)\Thrustmaster\TARGET\x64 and find the DeviceManagementApp and..... DELETE IT!!!!!!!

BTW i just decided to give it up and dump the T-16000 set, i still can send it back to the shop for a refund ... looking at a replacement, maybe the same brand Warthog ....

I use a T16000m and TWCS without the target software. tbh, I don't really know what advantage it gives,  I just use the default windows settings, and add deadzone in game as required.

I guess you're right; but my biggest grief with NOT using it is that it seems impossible to load and save carefully made configurations from within the GB game set. Often IDs are set wrong (by windows 10 probably) after a reboot .... but Target stuff drives me nuts, especially when you have to throw scrips at it, goes beyond my limited computer knowledge.

I haven't run into that issue, but then again, I stick to the same settings regardless of what I'm flying, and they never seem to get lost. Though, I do always ensure to use the same USB port every time.

Meanwhile i swapped the TM for a Warthog (lucky me, got one slightly defect at a fair price). Guess your are right about the 'uselessness of the TARGET software, but i think with BoS and CoDB often a created confUser.ini file (CoD) needs some adaptations for a certain plane's controls.

Hard to remember what's what and where to find it due naming issues. Also it seems that set keymappings sometimes work, sometimes not. I must be doing something wrong, but with CoD you can at least save and load settings and name them.

A warthog is certainly an improvement mechanically over a TM IMO, only the stick hasn't got the twist 'em Z axis option.  If you don't have pedals like me maybe less convenient.

On the TM throttle you have these lever-wings one can use for that too. J
