Any news in last six months of Li-2/C-47/DC3?

The last I heard was that Jason was intending asking the team that made the Po-2 to look into the Li-2 next if they do a good job (but no promises)      I cannot find any more mentions of the LI-2 since Dec 2018.  Have I missed any gossip?   Has it been confirmed that it has been given the go ahead?

I think the guys that made the PO-2 are the ones working on the tanks and ROF planes so maybe they have no capacity for th Li-2 right now.

No tanks and Po-2 are two separate teams. Digital Forms vs Ugra media.

But they are the ones porting over and face lifting the RoF aircraft yes?

I've been waiting same info myself. Li-2/C-47 would be a perfect addition to online wars.

I like the JU 52. But it is few options fir it to do in SP.

I kind of hoping this get solved until we get the c47 li 2

It is nice to drop parachuters, but they should do ground work like tanks. And I have yet to see other than cargo moving in sp

Without any real scoring system for successful transport and supply flights, I don't find that have much incentive to use the Ju-52 or to complete a mission properly.  It leaves me without too much enthusiasm for the Li-2 or C-47 either.

I think it possible though that the lack of options for transport aircraft might be *because* there is no VVS equivalent.   It is frustrating to see a map allow Axis players to drop paratroopers and supplies while the Allies have to actually land them in a PE2 ?     Most maps with dynamic front lines rely on some sort of 'supply' facility even if it is an invisible pipeline or a dwindling supply of aircraft or bombs.    You can always find a way to use transports,

I just need a static one to place at Y-29 - there was one parked there.

Transports are good for target practice, and at this point in the game's development that's about it.  Without proper "scoring" opportunities for them they only serve as eye candy.

Slow eye candy.

I'm good with eye candy.

We had many AI only aircraft in the old sim, and I put them to good use...like the Emily for instance.

Damn...I'm never going to be able to let go of that airplane.

Using the HSFX mod the H8K became perhaps the best bomber for the Japanese.

I loved flying that plane.

if only more servers would have the Ju52 and para drop missions for it, either troops or cargo.... But its insanely rare to see anything for it ? also if the devs need help, Hungary has a flying example of a Li2 that you can book flights on as a passenger, unsure if it would be open to be used for modeling but that could be a plane to start on if the Li2 project is still a thing.

Kind of disagree.  There are SP campaigns: 1C, PWCG, and static that all make use of the Ju52, as well as just flying over scenery.  I have the Ju52 and I have fun flying it.  I would very much like to have an allied counterpart for PWCG and to fly an iconic plane.

Plus Market Garden is covered in the BoBP campaign

And for the future, fingers crossed, lest we forget Japan's L2D Showa.

I do really not care about the score.

When flying I try to do a effort for the mission.

I try to do it as realistic as possible at least in my mind. If the transports duty was a bit less theoretical and more practical help to the wareffort. Like in real war. I would been all over it points or no points.

This is why I am reluctant to wish for planes I really like to fly.

Like sea planes recce planes and such.

They need a purpose before production.

Transporters always was and is highly important

I agree, transports won the war.  But there is little for them to do in the sim, that's my point.  I do own the Ju52 BTW.

It is the simplicity of this sim that cause it.

I was amazed by dropping paratroopers the first two times. But they do nothing. It is only a parameter that need to be counted down.

That is as far as the developers are willing to go.

I respect their decision, but in my opinion they loose a opportunity to make something special, that really would make a difference and be unique in sims.

If there was a dedicated firefighter sim out there

I would be all over it.

Having a sim doing civilian task appeal to me all these things are made in a make do spirit.

So I personally appeal to improve what we have instead of getting new stuff. Transporters in this sim is empty buckets, we need to fill the one we have before we get a new

a dynamic campaign, or a multiplayer server where munition or planes are limited, and only cargo runs or drops can refill them, or if objectives like factories could be taken over or defended by dropping paratroopers on/near them... One can only wish. In DCS helicopters cannot do troop transport by default, but modders made it possible, and it is so much fun to deploy troops and see them walk off either to defend or to fight.

Well you can already have drop points but all you do is drop and it faint away after a while

what needed is a logistical necessity to operate a airbase and willingness to do the task.

The problem is there is no real interest

I have not played it for at least 25 years so it may have changed but in Warbirds you used paratroopers to capture airbases once all the guns had been taken down.   When they landed they immediately all made a bee-line for the control tower and could be straffed before they got there as you needed a certain number to get inside to win ?
