What's Left for the VVS

In the spirit of the "What's Left For The Luftwaffe" post, let's talk VVS.

1944 fighters:

Yak-3

Yak-9

La7

I153

IL4

IL2 1944

DB-3

Of the lot if we could just get a late war Yak and a La7 I would be very happy.

There's definitely a wide selection here.

Expanding things a bit... there's the Yak-9 series which hasn't yet appeared in the series. The early Yak-9 is very similar to the Yak-1B but the later versions like the Yak-9T get pretty interesting with the moved cockpit, aerodynamic refinements, and 37mm cannon.

A late series IL-2 with the "arrow" wings would be interesting if only to complete the IL-2 series from early to late.

I'd love to see the DB-3/IL-4 some day and the Tupolev Tu-2 is a really interesting aircraft that just doesn't show up in sims all that often.

There's room for earlier types too. The I-153 and SB-2 would both be interesting.

The most relevant planes that could be added to complete the lineups would be imo

For 1941:

I-153
I-16 Type 18
LaGG-3 series 3/4
Yak-1 early (M-105P/PA)
MiG-3 early (no slats, etc)
Su-2
SB-2M103
DB-3F

For 1942:

Pe-3bis
IL-4
Yak-7B (for Stalingrad scenario, without the aero improvements our Kuban one has).
Yak-1B (same as Yak-7B above).

For 1943:

La-5F (bubble canopy)
LaGG-3 series 66
Yak-9 / Yak-9D / Yak-9T

For 1944:

IL-2 1944 model (arrow wings)
Yak-9M / Yak-9U
Yak-3
La-7
Tu-2S

For 1945:
IL-10

Someone's got to say it:

Pe-8.jpg

Yes, I know that 4-engined bombers aren't likely to be a thing for now, and I know the Pe-8 was only ever made in small numbers, but it was a magnificent creature just the same, and I'm entitled to dream...

All of that and 2 appropriate maps with career mode to utilize those in SP.

And over wing I-16's and an over-fusalage I-153.

Vistual-Order as sub-effort after BoBp? Would be economical on the Luftwaffe side but add 4 VVS a/c and the map and it could be a half-way house as the team plan their next big project.

The summer time is a perfect moment to spend on some toys .... but for some of us there is nothing else to get. We need some collector's planes, maps, or sth .... :)

As long as I can get a La-7 and a late P-63 I will be happy for the late war scenarios...

Yak-3...... it would be a shame not to have it, i simply don't care it if doesn't fit in current expansions!

I'd love to see some more Yak and lagg variants. I mean technically we have 3 or 4 versions of each plane, the different weapon load outs are a different series. But still would love to see the yak-9 in its various series, the yak-7 with the bubble top would be awesome. There's a ton left to do model in regards to the vvs. Could get early la-5 with bu ble tops, la-7. I'm a really big fan of the vvs planes. Think they are fun to fly. Especially the il2. Would love to see the arrow wing.

Besides earlier variants of existing aircraft,  as it stands right now for me, the biggest gaps in the VVS plane set are:

- Li-2

- I-153

- I-15bis (maybe)

- Hurricane Mk.II

- Tu-2

- Su-2

- DB-3/Il-4

- Yak-9

- MBR-2bis (maybe)

As much as I'd love a Yak-3, an La-7, or a Battle of Leningrad expansion, I suppose it's better to add missing aircraft to the existing campaigns

I think LaGG-3 series 66 would be a good feasible option to add for the devs. It was the most prevalent fighter at Kuban.

Series 66 machines were capable of 542kmh maximum speed at sea level, which is very respectable performance- faster than Yak 1b and even nearly as fast as the LA5.

We could also use the LaGG-3 Series 34/35 for the BoS timeframe. First of the type to have leading edge slats fitted.

Still so many to do...

If we completely ignore additional variants of planes already in the game, only take planes that were fairly prolific and discount 4-engine bombers, we are left with a somewhat managable list:

I-153

Su-2

R-10

SB-2

DB-3/IL-4

Li-2

Tu-2

Hurricane

B-25

I think we can skip the P-63. Even if it did see some (unofficial) use by the VVS, it was very late in the war.

For both sides

C47/li2.. This is crazy

Fw189. Crazy again to me

Yak3

La7

La9

Il4 il10

B26

B25

A20

For me those are the most glaring unless we get to 4 engine territory.

Im glad for BP because its another map more planes.. But its still.. Hard to wrap my head arounx no 4 engines in NWE ww2

I’m sure EVERYONE in this thread purchased the Ju-52 and Po-2,in order to insure that premium aircraft continue - right?

I purchased several, and not as a charity to the devs. I've had loads of fun with the Po-2 in particular.

Indeed sir.  The Hawk 81 should have been in from the beginning.  Add a Ki 27 and Ki 43 and we would have a good start on the early CBI theater using the Kuban map as a credible stand in.

Oh yes.

I'm having fun with the Ju52.  IfI just want to putter around it's my ride of choice.
