NiiranenVR Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Hello You see part of my PC low ..... But Later on I will change my oculus rift 1 to another, but I'm holding back and see what is coming and the issues are good again And now .... The but ..... I have GPU 1080 and 32 GB ddr4 unknown ram .... So about the GPU .... With a change , shall I go for the 1080ti or the 2080 I have a 2'hand from 17 - evga GTX 1080 ti sc2 gaming hybrid - 600 € ..... Or better go for the 2080 ( I think the 2080ti is to expensive ) And what DDR 4 good to put in game pc I'm building a game pc for my 14 old son - I have a MB z170 , I74xx and then he have my GPU and ram - so I'm happy with my pc now , but now I'll make some ' buy new / be lucky '
LLv34_Flanker Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 S! I would look how prices settle after nVidia announced and released the Super versions of their card line up. For VR you need strong CPU and fast GPU, so a 2080 would be a good bet?
simfan2015 Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Hi, IMHO ... getting e.g. more expensive DDR4-3600 to 4400 CL16/CL17- compared to DDR4-3200 (even CL 16) is not going to help framerates a lot. Better invest in a better best GPU. The 200 USD you save by that can be invested in a RTX 2080 SUPER instead of RTX 2070 SUPER ... also a 200 USD difference but an incredible FPS booster ! Regards, Stefaan
NiiranenVR Posted July 9, 2019 Author Posted July 9, 2019 Thank you So I shall buy good ok RAM And better buy a 2080 more than a 1080ti .... I will start look at the marked ???? Ooooo I see , there will come a new GPU in 2-3 weeks 23/7 - 2080 super And price 700 usd ???
simfan2015 Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 (edited) H_Steinbaur-VR Faster is better, but YMMV. e.g. in the past (before Ryzen 3000) people into gaming might be better of with Intel CPUs and nvidia GPU. Content creators e.g. video rendering (yet in the past) were given the advice to get AMD CPU, for most non-CUDA tasks AMD GPU. But all that is changing and ... It s always a trade off and very personal. I, personally, FWIW, plan on getting AMD 3700X + RTX 2070/2080 SUPER ... for simming and video rendering. YMMV (especially for VR gaming) Good Luck, Stefaan Edited July 9, 2019 by simfan2015
NiiranenVR Posted July 9, 2019 Author Posted July 9, 2019 Simfan2015 In the past I was always going for Intel , course it should be the best for music DAW's - And I'll stay there with my allso game pc I'll go after the GPU 2080 super - the price is almost like 2080 ..... I'll not pay the price for that little extra a 2080 ti could give - Save them for a better VR than rift 1
simfan2015 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 (edited) Hallo H_Steinbaur-VR, Intel CPU is still the *safe* bet ! "Nobody ever got fired for buying Intel (or IBM for that matter :-))" Kind regards, Stefaan Edited July 10, 2019 by simfan2015 1 1
LLv34_Flanker Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 S! In 1080p gaming 9900K still is fastest, but in 1440 and above the difference between Intel and AMD diminishes to 2-6%, which is within margin of error etc. Latest tests show that AMD really has stepped up the game and giving Intel a run for the money. In content creation etc. AMD mops the floor with Intel for less price. Intel is good but safe? Has vulnerabilities more than AMD at the moment. Either way it is good consumers now have more options to choose from :)
simfan2015 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Hi again Flanker, By 'safe' I meant buying for the data center of your company, not personal. Intel is used there more than AMD AFAIK. Regards, Stefaan
E69_Qpassa_VR Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 I would buy a 2080S or 2080ti if you can afford it.
simfan2015 Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 RTX 2080 TI ... 1.500 EURO / 1700 USD in Europe. Insane. IMHO only *required* for DCS VR - 4K Ultra to get good FPS. But if one can afford a 1000 USD VR headset, getting that insane GPU ... can also not be a problem ? Regards
NiiranenVR Posted July 16, 2019 Author Posted July 16, 2019 I mean the 2080ti is to expensive too But in about 2-3 weeks , as I remember , there should come a 2080 super Not so expensive , but better than 2080 https://www.nvidia.com/da-dk/geforce/graphics-cards/rtx-2080-super/ 1
1.JaVA_KEBEN Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 I'm waiting for the new 2080 super , and replace that for my 1080 https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/18456787 1
simfan2015 Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 (edited) The joke with those Nvidia so called new (!???) Super GPUs seems to be on us !? The shops in Europe are simply increasing prices for those in fact good old yet overclocked Turing GPUs simply because they ... can. AMD 5700/XT is no real competition for either the RTX 2070 and 2080 Super so nvidia (but morse so the shops) can ask what they can get. Here in my country the prices of the non-super models didn t even drop ! But maybe ... in time ... Regards, Stefaan Edited July 16, 2019 by simfan2015

simfan2015 Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Indeed ! However ... Unfortunately that is not an option when you buy a PC and have it assembled by a shop. OTOH a RTX 2080S(uper) being around the corner that reduced 1000 USD pricing may no longer prove that special . The Super version OC edtion will come very close to Ti performance !?
