s9723 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 (edited) Spitfire IX has 120 rounds for each Hispano cannon in IL-2. In previous discussion of 3.003, someone has posted the wing profile showing 135 rounds ammo box. However, the developer was still in doubt, since the size of 120 rounds and 135 rounds ammo box were identical and there wasn't further evidence. I find that some interesting documents were posted in WT forum. The action report shows that Spitfire IXB ( LF IX) fired 290 cannon rounds. In addition, the number of fired MG rounds indicates that this Spitfire should have C-wing. http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7446815 Another report shows that an Spitfire XIVc fired 300 cannon rounds in an air combat. https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7449652 The original post: https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/440752-4219-spitfire-xiv-c-wing-ammo-storage-wrong/ https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/440831-4219-spitfire-lf-ix-c-wing-ammo-storage-wrong/ Edited July 6, 2019 by s9723 1 1
=362nd_FS=RoflSeal Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 It seems 120 rds/gun is the nominal load but the ammo bay could hold quite a bit more. You find the same with the Tempest where the nominal load is 150 rds/gun but AAR reports list bullets fired much higher then the suggested 600 rds.
PainGod85 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Looks to me like 150 rds per gun is the maximum load. 1
