All scripted campaigns are locked

Hi,

I see in the main menu that I have the game and Battle for Moscow, but when going into scripted campaigns - all campaigns are locked.
Why?

You have to purchase them separately.

With BOM you get Quick missions, Multiplayer, Career mode and one-off missions. Scripted campaigns are paid extras.

 

Luckily they are not very expensive, especially if you pick them up on a sale.

Also check the "Scripted Campaigns" section here - many free ones which have been made by members here and available for download.   I'm in the middle of the Walter_Nowotny's "Panzerknacker" campaign and digging it. 

 

Be aware you have to install them in the "Campaigns" folder and very likely will have to re-build them using the mission editor tool to be compatible with the most recent update, see notes for last update, there's also some posts in the Scripted Campaigns section that discuss the process.  Very small learning curve & worth it.

What campaigns are recommended for new players?

A very good way to start is with Jade Monkey's scripted mission package.

Free download that includes a variety of flights to build experience and confidence.

But today is a sale so I want to buy at least one campaign. Is there any that is suitable for new players?

They don't differ much in regards of the player's skill. In your shoes, my choice would base on which plane or side I'd want to fly throughout the campaign.

There's two Bf 109 campaigns ("Fortress over Volga" and "Ten days of autumn"), one Il-2 ("Sea Dragons"), one Yak-1 ("Blazing Steppe") and one A-20 Havoc ("Havoc over the Kuban").
