Can You View Tank Skins With IL-2 BOS Viewer?

Hey all. I'm trying to make some skins using the Il-2 BOS viewer, however I can't see any of the tanks in the list of models you're allowed to view. Is there a way to import them to the viewer, or is it not currently possible?

That's a good question I would like to see answered because I'm interested in making new TC skins, and perhaps some low-ish poly ground objects.  I'm interested in the Tunisian campaign of 1942-43 but many of the objects can be rolled into the Russian front with new skins.  I'm also tinkering with some higher poly softskins that might be suitable for AI vehicles - again, they are suitable for both Tunisia and Russia.  Click shots to enlarge.

Folks,

I'd like to give this thread a second chance after such a long time since the implementation of viewing the tank skins with the viewer.exe is still missing ...

Just my two cents ...

You still can't see the tanks in the viewer. It would help a lot, specially since the newer tanks have the skin spread on two 4k textures.

A lot of small parts to look for, but it is what it is.

With the exception of the Ferdinand and the other self-propelled guns, no. And it'll likely never be implemented due to the way 3D models are loaded into the viewer as a single obj. This is because the AFV's themselves are two separate models, the hull and the turret.

Example.

I wouldn't mind having the hull and the turret as single objects. As long as I could see them with the viewer ... like you've presented it in your picture.

They don't render properly due to the damage model being overlayed upon the existing default model, which is why you see damaged sections, texture errors, artifacts, and anim issues in the screen I posted. Also, the turret model will not load into the viewer so its rather moot.

If it was possible to have the viewer support TC vehicles then they'd have done so by now.

Understood. Thank you for your enlightening insights, mate. :good:
