Cacodemon96 Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 Just go to multiplayer tab from game menu, choose server with enough people and have fun. That's it, no voice comm required.
adler_1 Posted June 29, 2019 Author Posted June 29, 2019 hello i tried a couple of dogfight missions , how can you tell from a distance if friend or foe ? you cant see the shape or markings before its too late yet they do attack decisively , so how do they identify so early ?

I suggest getting comfortable using the field of view modification. Some people erroneously call this zoom but it's not. This will help slightly with identifying aircraft but in general there are shapes and silhouettes of aircraft that can be recognized at ranges further than you may think. IL-2 is not perfect in this regard but better than we've previously experience in past generations of sims. 1

Using fov zoom, geting used to shapes of airplanes more then markings, small details like position of radiators, shape of wing or wingtips, tail wing shapes and so on... And on longer distances you just do your best guess based on his behavior, direction he come from, his alt and so on... untill you come close enought to confirm what it is. It comes with practice, more you play youll get better at it. If guy your falowing flashes nav lights or waves its wings that probably means he see you, and knows your frendly but hes concerned that you dont know hes frendly so hes actions are showing you hes frendly so double check in that situation before shooting.
adler_1 Posted June 30, 2019 Author Posted June 30, 2019 hello today was much better i could identify much easier by shape and sometimes even markings post shape . will use wiggle , when they limit fuel to so much what are you supposed to do when the engine shuts off , there is no airfield to land as survived ? i see there is nobody around at coops or organizing a meet , do you just check from time to time ? i would like to fly with squadrons with objectives , not just dogfights . 1

Keep practicing. Your aircraft recognition will continue to improve as time goes on. As for limited fuel... what do you mean? You should probably return to base before the fuel runs out. As for organized events I recommend joining a group of some sort or a squadron. There are various levels of these from informal organizations to very dedicated ones. There's a whole section of the forum oriented towards that: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/96-virtual-squadrons-and-special-events/ More generally if you join servers like KOTA or Combat Box they have built Discord communities around them which helps with more informal team-ups. There are also special events that have gone on. I've written about two fairly recently that you may want to read about to get a sense of what goes on: https://stormbirds.blog/2019/04/27/second-kota-squad-event-write-up/ https://stormbirds.blog/2019/06/24/screenshots-from-sundays-flying-circus-furball/ 1
