As I go thru the cast, main characters are almost all old farts from high command of US or Japanese Navy. And sorry, but I cant picture Woody Harleson as admiral Chester Nimitz ?

Check him out in The Highwaymen on Netflix. He's turned into a damned fine actor.

I know, but unfortunately Im too old and got him fixed from 1990s movies like White men cant jump ?. Nevertheless it will be for sure fun to watch in theatre. Few beers and shots before the movie will do the trick. Looking forward to it.

He did a brilliant job as Woody in Cheers for that matter.

In my opinion he carried that film, and even made Cosner eatable   Both did their best ever in that movie

Yup. I thought he became the lead character the last few seasons of the show.

I thought it was a great film. The story telling and character building was very old school I thought.

Keep an eye out for the two wooden wonders talking in front of a diecast metal toy B-17 at the 11:24 mark.

Porn acting level.

It's because they think that movies have to start with action from the very first scene. I'd like to see a slow build up to the battle, like Tora Tora Tora. But it's not to be.

Looks awful. Way over done CGI, with those Zero's coming in two feet off the ground to strafe that street.  but that's become the norm. But, it's not just that. The scene showing the SBD's diving and being shot up is bullshit! The reason for their success that day, was that they dived on the Japanese fleet unimpeded by enemy fire. When they arrived over the fleet, the fighters were down low shooting down the torpedo bombers, and the anti-aircraft gunners had their guns pointed down at the water for the same reason. It was practically like a training mission. They were able to hold their Daunntleses straight as arrows and concentrate on their targets. Three carriers went down in minutes! The Hiryu went down later, and unfortunately had time to launch the air strike that got the Yorktown.

I had high hopes for this film when I heard about it last year. Now, not so much. Oh, and the woman you see isn't part of some silly love story. She plays the wife of Commander Dick Best, who led the SBD's aboard the Enterprise.

I don't buy that, "Enjoy it because it's the only one we've got," philosophy. I enjoyed the hell out of Dunkirk. If audiences flock to this kind of thing, then that's all you'll get get, because they'll figure that's all you want.

Yeah, and not only was he great in it, the movie itself was terrific, I thought.
