The Final 55 Percent

Recommended Posts

What do you think the final 55 percent of the game will bring besides the planned planes? Seems pretty far along right now. Or, what are you hoping to see added or improved in the final release?

The campaign mode must be fairly major - so that's gotta be a fair few percentage points. Then we still have the bombers to come. That must take it to 70% or so. Then there'S the Full Mission Builder (which is supposed to be more similar to the old IL2's one), so that's 80% (??? no idea of course, just guessing). Other than that, I don't know - multiplayer server options? I believe DM and FM are largely finalised, so what does that leave? AI control and commands? Graphic options? Maps?

We are also due to see an upgrade to the cloud/weather engine.

Don't forget radio navigation,

I'd also hope to see a better method of activating radio voice commands.

And everything FSM has said.

Why don't you use VAC? No need to press keys just talk into the Mic. I use it for DCS to talk to my ai wingmen and issuse commands. http://www.dwvac.com

If it is like any other project, the last 10% will be the most difficult and take the longest.

Fix the Flight Model? :D ~10%

Realistic head movement and physics for the pilot POV, simulated changing weather, and...shit, just more realism.

I am curious how long the final 55% will take, I mean, not in terms of a exact date or anything close to that, perhaps it is just that I have only just started closely following this sim's development and I don't really have a feel for how long various things take (aircraft and such).

To be honest, I had always thought that Spring was the release window but I could have read wrong information on that from some random person on a forum somewhere.

I suspect a big part of the final 55% will be the campaign, it feels like they are putting a lot of effort into it and I look forward to seeing the final results.

I know I really need that "Turn & Bank" in my 109 when I'm in the clouds   I've smashed into the ground a few times.

Yes, it was evil to release the clouds without a working turn and bank.

Autumn maps, the battle did go on from September to end February.

All missions with a landing airfield?!

Scramble dogfight/intercept QBM!

Coop multiplayer mission’s creator.

Skin emplacements to let outside creator’s skin creation. This was a big reason to the success of the first IL2 in series anyone could create a skin.

You have some excellent ideas there. I'm hoping for the training mission with an instructor pilot too. But if it would speed up the addition of them, I could be happy just having a voice barking in my ear instead of an actual two-seater.

Just a vodka cupholder for my Yak, a big ask I know but one has to be prepared....^^

arma 3 shares its missions using steam. lets hope that never happens here, ever.

posting missions on the forums works just fine.

No. This will not happen, this release only clearly covers the winter timeframe. It has from day 1 and still does. Autumn will be a separate release.

Don´t forget how much 777 studios improved Rise Of Flight after final release! :) There is still guite a bit stuff coming even after release! One day at a time folks!

Fully implementing of Force Feeback is at least 10 % for me. For example I miss force feedback from the wheels in the snow. Simular to the Force Feedback in Rise of Flight.

Same here; Ron's on top of things and VAC is a great tool.

Good bombsights. ;)

no speed limitations for flap lowering

same for landing gear, or no damage if lowered at 500KMH.

Yes VAC is an essential purchase if you have flight sims. I only found out about it last year and so much easier to issue commands via voice and much more realistic. The program is Cheap as chips aswell.

I hope the 46th percent is aircraft trim!  Yeah, I know they appreciate this point and will tell us as soon as.  IMHO it is the biggest downer with the current release.  gripe complete!

Lot of stuff for the devs to work on and they have done a great job to date.

Looking forward to the He-111.  Multi-crew positions, bombardier controls, navigator position - think there is a lot of scope in the big aircraft department.

Of course, completion of the Stuka controls - auto-pullout etc.

S!

It's an interesting question.

The Il2- BoS general idea is a brand new game.

But as it is new game and has Il-2 in the name, we may wonder, what this new Il2 will have better than old il-2 series (despite the large ammount of maps and planes) ??????

And when i say better, i mean:

The things that worked - il2 issues + inovations = An better Il-2 (BoS ?)

We need to understand that build the "things that worked" is a huge work, and the dev's took a nice path, putting up the main one's first. And they making this with great speed and good feedback to community.

The speed is so fast that devs need to take care to don't let those several corrections behind, or brand new "il2 issues" will be created and this equation will blow up....

As an example we see the FM issues, the DM issues, the balistic issues, instruments issues, trims, radio, some lack os commands, etc .

And this transparent / don't zoomnable map..... with no sector's drawned

example:

10gjur8.jpg

Look this...there more smoke than a vulcan.   :o:   Credits to Sokol1

And what about the innovations ?

For now, i clearly saw the graphic ones: Great graphics, great clouds, terrain, 3d models, ....due the new engine's. But for now......almost just them.
I don't think gui, speed icons, and (ugly) plane icons appearence should called inovations, but an remake
And i must admit, the things they promissed in the beginning  of the project it's really happening. They didn't promissed a lot in this point. :)

I realy hope they keep the "things that worked"(like a nice FMB) seriosly planned to BoS with good review in those detailed aspects.

For now....i'm very satisfied so far! ( hoping those fixes will happen).

And if the speed of updates decrease due a better look of inovation point/full design of the "things that worked" it will be very understandable  and very enjoyable! :) :)

While I agree that IL2 1946 has "things that work" I think you must understand that the only thing in BoS similar to Il2 1946 is the name and WWII aircraft.  For a true representation of what to expect, I wouldn't look at il2 1946.  I would look at RoF.  That is the true successor to this IL2 BoS.  It may not be a convenient truth but that is all in the eye of the beholder.  In MY eyes as long as BoS equals of surpasses RoF in features and functionality, I am a happy customer.  For that is an Apples to Apples comparison, as opposed to IL2 1946 to BOS.  Which is Apples to Oranges.

Actually, ROF would be it's predecessor just for clarification :).

However it has been billed as the sequel to the original IL-2, at least that is how I perceived it...

" We are proud to present you our newest flight simulator - IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad. This is a continuation of the legendary Sturmovik series and for more than 10 years it has been the standard for the combat simulation genre."

But there is no way it can have all that the original IL-2 became, with FB,  the Ace Expansion Pack, Pacific Fighters, and then the culmination into Il2 1946. The original IL-2 when first released, was pretty limited as well.

I have no doubt if successful and it continues with the business model they are developing for it, it eventually will.
