DUTTENHOFER Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) I'm glad to see that this title will ship with a career mode. But as always, we consumers just want more and more. Is this in developement, is this already done, or is this not going to happen? In any case, I'd love to fly with my buddies as we murder AI pilots in a dynamic, persistant world. Thoughts? Caudron431 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 That would be nice indeed. What is more it could be very helpful to train pilots (squadmates) in an "artificial" and less dangerous environment, without them being too impressed by the human factor in combat.
DUTTENHOFER Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 And prop check them far over enemy lines if they're keeping you from leading the wing!
Fafnir_6 Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 A co-op career is something I have longed for in Rise of Flight. The career mode in that game (which likely will be what the BoS career is built on) works pretty well for single player career play. All they need to do is integrate the career mode mission generator with the multiplayer client (i.e. make it able to generate co-op missions in addition to single player ones depending on selected game type. In the co-op tab of the multiplayer game hosting screen, they could have the option of starting/continuing co-op career mode (which would then call up mission progress in the same way the SP career does currently). Starting a new co-op career would bring up the career setup screens for the hosting player the same way it does in the SP career now. The career engine would generate a co-op mission with a period/unit/aircraft type appropriate number of co-op player seats available. The mission would then wait for other players to connect the way they do in co-op missions now with the report ready feature, etc. Then you all play the mission. The mission ends when the last player has finished flight (with the host being able to end at any time as an override) with the career progress and stats for all the other players saved on the host's machine/profile (so he can restart later with the same people). The co-op career could then show the sitrep screens that normally accompany a completed mission in the SP career with a report ready feature stopping immediate transfer to the next mission. The host could override the other palyers or quit the career at this time. Then when everyone has reported ready for the next mission, the whole cycle could start again. It would be awesome. Neat things to add: -Keeping track of every players achievements within a campaign would be very cool with promotions/medals, etc. -If a player dies, they could start the next mission as a green recuit with limited access to rank/medals/mods/skins/multiple aircraft types(if available)/seat type (back seat only for a few missions -determined by host settings)/etc. Various promotions would unlock these things. -New players could join careers in progress as raw recruits (access controlled by host) -For RoF, optionally allow two-seater careers to be flown with players occupying both seats and allowing the rear seater to perform the arty spotting/camera operation/bombsight operation functions, while the pilot flies the plane (roles selected before mission start?). This could potentially benefit BoS as well (bombsight in particular -- IL-2 1946 Daidalos Team Patch 4.13 is adding this functionality). Having all this would be pretty epic and to my knowledge no sim to date really does this effectively, Cheers, Fafnir_6
