Driving and opening map BUG

I found a bug that happens when one's driving the tank (accelerating or reversing) and simultaneously opens the map ("O"). When you closes the map, the control becomes stuck either forward or reverse.

That also happens with u press enter or tab when holding the key. I call it the auto drive system and often use this bug to move while I go grab a drink lol. ..

If its a feature, than how do you reset it when you dont want it?

I think I may have been misunderstood. I understand that the feature to have an autodrive activated when you look at the map is nice, but the problem is different. Its when you turn off the map and the controls are stuck. What happened was that I was driving forward and opened map while still pressing forward. Then I closed the map and the tank continued accelerating. I tried to stop and reverse, but it wouldnt reverse. When I then released the brakes/reverse, it started to move forward without any input. Stuck and no way to reset it back. Had to restart the mission.

You need to push the active control again. If you are going forward, press the key assigned to forward again and the tank will stop on keyrelease.

I've encountered this as well...is this a bug or an unknown "Cruise Control" feature?

Just press the W or S again after you close the map!

It's a "cruise control" - a rather unintentional feature. I use it in multiplayer a lot :)

It is not a bug, it is a feature. You can drive around and enjoy the scenery. Dont change this ?

I've reported this in the past. It is most definitely a bug. In my experience, no combination of reopening the map/chat/tab or re-selecting movement commands unsticks the command. The only solution is the quit the mission and restart.

Are you serious??!! Just press the key you pressed before opening the map again! And make sure that key is not assigned to anything else! Double, no triple check it! If anything, make a video of what you're doing  please. It is not a bug...

This is how to stop again. I hope the dev's dont touch it, because as a solo tanker you can drive and do other important stuff.

This tanking controlling key business is still kind of confusing to me at times. I use a warthog set, and used Thad's TM1600 mapping chart and made this adaption:

I suppose you think I'm lieing for the fun of it?

It's a either a big or an insanely stupid UI decision. Who in the their right mind would implement a control system like this? Set cruise control by opening a map... Give it more than a half second thought and it is clearly, 100% a bug and I sincerely hope they fix it.

You can also do it by:

Opening the chat window by pressing Enter.

Opening the stats window.

Pressing Escape.

All of that will do the autopilot.

And i don't think you're lying :acute:.I think something is off in your key bindings.

All of those sound like bugs. Again, who would implement such a feature in that way?. The fact that some have found it useful doesn't change that.

I'll compound it with the fact that the "Autopilot" as some call it, only engages in this manner 1-2% of the time for me and gets stuck only 1-2% of those instances. I hear you, it can be useful and my finger gets tired of holding down forward too but this is a bug that needs fixing and a proper throttle control needs to be implemented......imho

,

My key bindings are clean as a whistle. When this was happening more frequently a few releases ago I went through all options trying to fix it.

Sometimes when its a long haul,i put it in auto and go brew myself some tea or coffee( or use a restroom, grab a beer from the fridge etc.. ). I'm sure some ppl have a smoke break that way lol.

To be honest, I use it as a Cruise Control, same thing happenes when you press Enter whilst holding W, all you need to do to stop it again is press the same key again.
