Samsung Odyssey plus freezing up.

It is consistently freezing after about two to three minutes in game.

I get this popping up on my screen. Don't know what it is or if it is causing the headset to freeze.

Any ideas.

Isn't that a Reshade config screen? I'm quite sure VR Ain't gonna work properly with Reshade

Not sure. I had the 3dmoto thing on. I turned it off and put SS at 100 in steamvr. Seems to have helped.

I used 3dmoto in the past with no issue. Maybe something new.

I deleted the reshade. Dropped SS to 120 and it's still freezing up although it's later in the sortie. After four sorties it froze up twice.

Could it be the WMR/steam beta mode?

New Nvidia driver?

Could be anything.

Freezing up, without msg, I'd suspect inadequate cooling

IIRC reshade can't be just deleted, check web for proper uninstall. Or it just might be overheating like Fenris said.

I flew two missions yesterday. Didn't freeze but did glitch a couple of times. Like going to the Il2 loading screen for a split second. When it did freeze, the game would continue to play but Odyssey + would freeze and then I would crash. Had to reboot the computer to get out of it.

Checked temps. yesterday  both were 50 -60 range. So definitely not over heating.

Thanks for any input.

I had similar freezes (image froze at a certain frame while game was still running) when I overclocked my GPU once. After reverting to default GPU values the freezes were gone.

I had my cpu overclocked. I put it back to original. Hopefully that will fix it.

Like HunDread said it sounds like your Gpu is crashing. A cpu crash would result in a total crash or lock up and game with sound would not continue running.

Reset any gpu overclock, make sure your your not overtaxing psu and that gpu power supply connectors are properly seated.

A cpu overclock will require higher wattage delivery from your psu and that could choke your gpu. I made lots of abbreviations.

Yes. CPU overclock problem would most probably give you a blue screen (on your monitor). I would try to dig in the GPU direction. Like resetting GPU overclock if you use any, taking out the GPU and cleaning it from dust, cleaning the whole PC while you are at it, then reinstall GPU drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (google will help you with this).

OK I will try the gpu things.  took out the cpu over clock and it's still freezing.

The gpu is not over clocked. It's a 1080ti. Not over heating for sure.

Could it be a USB problem? Seems when I press a button sometimes it triggers it.

Thinking about it some more. You could try an all hardware stress-test with aida64. If you can reproduce this crash through that test  - without the odyssey connected - you can then choose to uncheck specific hardware In Aida. One by one and you should find the culprit.

Well, this doesn't seem to be a VR issue. I was playing CLoD and the screen froze same as in my headset. It is not an overheating GPU nor CPU temps. are OK.

Each time the game continues to play with just the image freezing or going black. Hard reset required to get out of it.

Maybe PSU issue or software/driver issue?

As suspected your gpu is crashing. Likely power supply. No Y-harness funky stuff on it's power connectors? And what Psu are you using?

It does have two plugs going to the GPU. Each has a plug hanging off that are not connected to anything. The PSU is EVGA 850 B3, 80+ Bronze, Fully modular.

Installed in 2017. So its about 2 years old. Been working good till now. Do you think it needs to be replaced? How can I tell?

An 850 is good enough for a single 1080ti and sounds like your using proper power connections. I'd first try reinstalling Gpu drivers with ddu like HunDread recommended and then testing hardware one by one in another computer.

I have list of things to try from the EGA forums. No access to another computer though.

Thanks for the help.

It's some GPU issue, although you are not overclocking it try to open the case while playing to test with better temps.

FWIW...I think I fixed this issue if anyone else is having it.

I install MSI Afterburner and cranked the GPU fans to 100% when playing.

I played with the graphics and set it on Ultra and it froze again. Put it back on high and no freezing.

Hope this might help someone.
