Tom_Weiss Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 (edited) I've edited the excellent template done by ICDP - this is the base template with a lot of work still to be done I'am going to be making US, UK, French and Soviet and Czechoslovak captured Me262 ( the tail roundel orientation is mistakenly inverted ) Edited June 19, 2019 by Tom_Weiss 11 2 1 4

Brano Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Czechoslovak avias S-92 were not captured. No flyable Schwalbes left after war, all taken by russians and americans. Avias were build after war from remaining subcomponents put together from all of former Protectorate Böhmen u Mähren. It was possible to build them thanks to czech engineers working for germans during war , stealing part of the production documentation from factories producing subcomponents and JUMO engines repair facilities in Protectorate. Some of the missing info they curiously found in american Aviation magazine, which published detailed article about Schwalbe, including several drawings. Silver S-92 with fuselage nr. PL-01 (missing on screenshots) and red lightning never flew in such camouflage. It got it after it was turned into static teaching equippment in aviation school. 5 1
Tom_Weiss Posted June 20, 2019 Author Posted June 20, 2019 I've set the aluminum layer and edited the alpha layer so that there are no transparent areas , it is a pity that there are not many metallic Me262A, probably only the Czechoslovak and a USAAF that would use it, the Czechoslovak in real life looks like it was painted in a light mint color in service. 3
Brano Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 (edited) Museum Praha-Kbely Here is PL-01 as static object at Olomouc-Holice airport, premises of anti-aircrat training facility/school. Edited June 20, 2019 by Brano Location 2 1
DD_Arthur Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Looks fantastic Tom! @Brano; very interesting info
Tom_Weiss Posted June 20, 2019 Author Posted June 20, 2019 (edited) I edited the markings - helps also to get a better sense of the model Edited June 20, 2019 by Tom_Weiss 4
Tom_Weiss Posted June 21, 2019 Author Posted June 21, 2019 a few fixes here and there and a first try with paint added to the skin 2
Tom_Weiss Posted June 22, 2019 Author Posted June 22, 2019 ? I have the metallic and painted templates ready next step : to make a camouflaged RAF and USAAF Me262 before I start weathering it. 5

Brano Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Czechoslovak roundels need to be corrected. On the vertical stabiliser, red is always facing down. On the wings it is always mirrored= red is facing towards fuselage from both wings, upper and bottom side.
Tom_Weiss Posted June 23, 2019 Author Posted June 23, 2019 I edited it - thanks ! couldn't resist and started weathering it Drag files here to attach, or choose files... 1
Brano Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 As for reference, avias were painted according to LW color codification green/grey RLM 02.
Tom_Weiss Posted June 23, 2019 Author Posted June 23, 2019 I am using this as a reference I need a lighter color to work with at first as a darker one makes it more difficult to find details and areas that need to be fixed
Brano Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 V-36 had a nice Mickey Mouse character painted on the fuselage. http://www.dogfighter.com/1944-Messerschmitt-Me-262-Avia-S-92-Tamiya/1608.html#_self
Tom_Weiss Posted June 23, 2019 Author Posted June 23, 2019 it is a pity there is no clear close up of it
Pierre64 Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Hi Tom_Weiss, I hope this will help you for your promising Avia S-92 : https://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Me-262/Messerschmitt-Me-262/pages/Avia-S-92-Schwalbe-Micky-Mouse-V36-Czechoslovak-Air-Force-1947-0A.html
LernanRuss Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 (edited) There is that rumour that Czechoslovakia sold 3 or 4 such planes to Israel. Edited June 23, 2019 by LernanRuss 1
Tom_Weiss Posted June 25, 2019 Author Posted June 25, 2019 (edited) there were 6 single seaters and two two seaters in service, it was only a rumor that some ended up in IDF service , although I have from very reliable sources that in Il-2 Sturmovik, there is one, flown by Yoel Costa based on a real life IAF 101 Sqn Spitfire MkIXe flown in 1952 by Yoel Costa #36 #40 time permitting, I'll upload those three today ? Tom_Weiss Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 WIP Quote Me-262 A-1a W.Nr.501232 is a single seater in USAAF markings. This was one of the jets rounded up by Watson's Whizzers which was a special group that scoured Germany looking for cutting edge technology to ship back to the US for evaluation 1
