The pedals I'm looking at are CH pro pedals and Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals. Both cost about the same and most reviews are same also, so anyone who has care to share their experience with me?

CH are more durable, some users consider narrow, use old electronics - USB 1.1, 8 bits (256 resolution points)* controller, and good quality potentiometers.

In the past was relatively easy get replacement potentiometers, but now it seems to need to be "friend" of someone... :)

Saitek PRO are more width,  USB 2.0 - 10 bits (1024 resolution points) controller, regular quality potentiometers -  I don't know how easy or difficult is get replacement pot's.

Sliding mechanism is better in CH, use metal rollers, in Saitek is plastic over plastic with some grease.

* On RoF forum are topics of experienced users talking about the disadvantages of low resolution on USB controller.

I have both and much prefer the Saitek Pro's. No problem with durability with either of them. Both have a center notch that is a little annoying because it makes it harder to make small inputs near the center. However, each can be modified to remove that, which I've done with the Saiteks and it makes a great improvement. My CH pedals were too narrow and started spiking after a few years of use. So I got the Saiteks. I like the greater width and have not had spiking thus far after a year and a half of use.

If I had to chose another brand other than the CH Pro Pedals I use I like the look of the MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals, though they are expensive.

I had the same experience as well and I prefer the Saiteks like you..

I use the CH pedals and was having some spiking issues as well. The cause is likely not the potentiometer itself. The common problem is the wire connectors connected to the potentiometer becoming loose and creating an intermittent bad connection. I ended up just soldering the connectors to the potentiometer terminals. Problem solved.

I also got rid of the return springs and put in some rubber bands tripled up in their place. After doing that and just lubing things up a bit my pedals are now silky smooth and problem free.

I have been using my Saitek Combat Pedals for about 2 years now, and still working very well - no apparent spiking as of yet.

I do want to remove that center detent though, have been meaning to get around to doing that.

I still have one eye on those MFG's though...

Simped pedals here. Good build quality and good 'n wide. The only pedals I've owned.

Just got my Saitek Pro rudder pedals. I'm a rank amateur, never having had rudder pedals so the learning curve is a bit steep BUT fun. I marvel at the real pilots on this forum where rudder pedals come second nature.

I've worked with them now a few hours in BOS and they have made me slow down and think about every move, which is a good thing. Before I had just my Microsoft Force Feed 2 flight stick. Adding the rudder pedals makes me appreciate all you do in flying a plane. Bottom line? I'm having fun and a little closer to the true way these planes are controlled.  At 63, I'm probably too old to actually learn how to fly but perhaps these rudder pedals will give me the incentive.

BTW, when I see the Slaw pedals etc I just drool!

I love my CH pedals, the ONLY thing I don't like is they are narrow and if you got bigger thighs.....well it can be a pain especially during long missions!! If I had the money right now I would get the simpeds or even the MFG Crosswinds those are quality above all, just you have to pay a bit more for this quality.

I've been using Simped F-16s for a while, but I'm on the list now for the Slaw pedals.

Be aware that the Saiteks can jam if you give full deflection, neccessitating the removal of all the screws in the base-plate (four hidden under the rubber feet) to get inside the unit to un-jam it. I had it happen a handful of times in approx two years of use.
