HagarTheHorrible Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I was reading the "Multiplayer kill board" thread in the General forum and it got me thinking, and although nothing new I think I have an idea that might add some interest or depth. I don't know how big a 10 or 20 second track file is but what if gun cam footage was recorded and kept for every kill or death. The benefit would be a video record of kills and deaths, who, what, how. It would also be available for other players to view so they can check your prowess or whether, actually all your kills are vulching or noob swatting or maybe taking out Ace's instead. The gun cam footage could include details of time, place, who and their kill streak when you shot them down. 1
HagarTheHorrible Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 I suppose I would see it working by recording your flight but only keeping a rolling last 30 seconds to memory, when a kill or death is recorded that last 30 seconds, if that long, is then retained to a victory folder.
Requiem Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 If you wanted you could either set the recording button in sync with your trigger, or (what I tend to do) is only record when it seems like there will be an engagement soon.
Sokol1 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Just dont forget to stop the record after the first and missing shoot, or when you shoot and hit the trigger are just stopping the first recording an lost the action. Perhaps a (joy software) script to stop after XX seconds help... I never get a convincing "guncam" operation in il-2(original) playing with joy trigger, better use "combat camera" button. Sokol1 1

The game already has, as you know,an optional inbuilt recorder, if it was working all the time, regardless ( I don't know what sort of resources are used ) but scrubs the tape clean if nothing happens ( unless, obviously you deliberately want to record something) within the last 30 seconds, it might do 20 seconds before a kill and 10 seconds after. Another less resource intensive way might be to just info stamp each kill, maybe even super imposed on a screen shot, again who, where, what altitude, their overall accumulated experience score and kill streak when shot down.
