Non functional escape key

Hi. After this latest patch my escape key is no longer functional. I used to able to use Alt/tab command to be able to use the escape key but no longer. I do not know what to do any more and wonder if anyone has a solution. I cannot use the game as is. Thanks in advance.

This happens to me if I use the Down Cursor with the tanks. Its gets stuck in reverse then esc key doesnt work.

 

I've just re-assigned my tank control keys to something else, but if I hit Down Cursor, esc doesnt work

Hi, I've been there as well last year. In my case it was caused by buttons of my warthog throttles constantly sending key presses. I had one axis converted to two buttons in order to simulate the FW-190 trim buttons. The result was that when I left the lever in full aft position in order to trim fully tail heavy it was constantly pressing the trim key I had assigned in-game. The solution was to include a key release action in my Warthog key map after 5 seconds or so. 

 

So, look for keys that are stuck in pressed position.

Thanks for your responses. After the most recent patch the escape key worked again and I thought I was good to go. However after my most recent session the escape key worked for half of that time period and then reverted back to its mysterious non-functioning phase. Just for" fun" I logged off and returned to the game where the key began to work again. The random action involving the escape key has me confused. It appears that it is looking to be refreshed somehow by exiting the game. Maybe I will stumble on to something. Regards.

I just got off the game, the tab+alt is working again Used that to get the escape key to work.  The last 15 mins. the sound bug crept in but still was a good flight. Good luck in your quest.

@Cat-26Ashby-26, next time it happens, alt+tab out of the game, open notepad or any other writer program. There you should get a repetitive number, letter or symbol written that will show which button or toggle you forgot to put to neutral. In my case it´s usually the landing flaps or gear key I´ve forgotten to release!

Sad to say, escape key and tab+alt  not working again.    I was on yesterday escape key worked about 4 times , but quit , tab+alt also quit. Was on today and nothing works. In and out of 3 times, no change. If I can be any help let me know.   I have a computer technician that makes house calls. He also has excess to my computer from his. Only thing he is very busy, you have to some times wait 10 days .     Thanks for your time

Graygoose, are you using JoyToKey or anything similar? I've had issues when using that, as it seemed to get stuck in a control-key-down state for some reason. Never quite figured out why, as the issue went away, though I'm still using it.

Hi       I think I stumble into cause of the escape key problem.   The trackir key for centering (f12)  in may case, stop the escape key from working. This started months ago, but the tab+alt  would let the escape key function again.   The last up date stop that. The tab+ alt still dose not work in the game.    I tried to move the center key to another key,   it would still stop the escape from functioning .   I now go into trackir and center before I go into IL2, so for that seems to work.   I hope this info will help some one.

Try to change the TiR from f12 to RightAlt + f12 wich isn´t a keycombo used by the game at all and see if that helps. As someone pointed out earlier, TiR "occupies" the key set for it so it can block out the esc command.

You can assign a key on your joystick for Escape using the in game key binding.

It is located in the first section "Service".

I was able to map the Escape key using JoyToKey but not with the games interface
