SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Hey guys, seems like Oculus wants to crack down on the VR Streaming to their Quest, as its better screens, same controllers, slightly better tracking, better fit, cable independence and no latency would make the Rift S obsolete. Here is a link to the RoadToVR article on it Disappointed. I wanted to get a Quest for the family, until I get the Wireless Module for the Pimax5K+ in autumn, and stream ApertureLabs and other things into to the living room. Maybe if side-loading remains possible, then it'll stay viable. What do you think, have you thought about getting a Quest for wireless gaming before? Best regards Fenris
dburne Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Yes I am interested and may pick up a Quest in the not too distant future. I enjoy several Touch games and would not mind lounging in my recliner in the den playing some of those that are available or can run on the Quest. I would not be so interested in streaming PC games to Quest, as well I enjoy playing those on my PC.
A_radek Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 I'm not surprised they disapprove of this. And if a third party delevoper could do it, their own effort likely would make the S obsolete. Considering they haven't gone this route prior to investing in the rift S, makes the situation look like a boo-boo. As for the concept of a wireless all-in-one Hmd. I would and will, not with this generation though. Imagine all of todays E-sport gamers running around in an augmented arena of choice rather than sitting behind a monitor.
