Anyone have moderators contacts of it?

As ive tryed to login there today and got following message:

VikS I have to tell you .. the site has it's merits I am sure  .. but the moderation over there is .... questionable and frankly I found the atmosphere over there not at all to my liking.

 

I got a lifetime ban over there as well, just like you ... and I couldn't even defend myself.. I was insulted and banned...  and my posts in my own defense were deleted and I was labeled a racist. This was during the 2008 election.. and I was banned because I said in a post that .. and this is as close to what I said as I can remember .. because it was 5 years ago.. but I said in a post that some.. not all .. but some of the opposition to then Senator Obama was based on racism.. and that was pretty much how I said it.. and well... DUHHHH ... Ya think?

 

    Now this is not to bring politics in here.. just as an anecdotal note of the circumstances... so please no one take it there because your posts will be deleted. This reference is only in relation to what went on at the site that Viks is asking about.

 

Anyone who knows me knows that while I am definitely not at all ashamed of my heritage .. quite proud of it in fact as is evidenced by my entire "career" for lack of a better term in the sim community from day one.. but I am an AMERICAN through and through I respect all and I try to be fair across the board. I have no ill will toward anyone save those who try to do me wrong.. and even then I am not one to hold grudges but I just move on and forgive but do not forget. I have taught my children to respect everyone based on what they do .. not what they say or how they look..  and I have the grandchildren to prove it.. but on that site I was labeled a racist and basically kicked off the boards with no chance at all to defend myself. When I came back a few months later .. with the 99 at the end of my name like it is at UBI and a different but similar sig ....  I think I had a modified sig.. but it was still me.. and anyone who knows me or has known me over the last 11 years that I have been in this community knows that as far as flight sims or WWII there will always be some reference to the 332nd in my sig or avatar.. and they would have known it was me.. Like some did.

 

Once they saw it was me... they kicked me out again..  because I did not take lightly to someone telling me basically to be a good boy now .. especially since from my perspective my initial ban was unjust .. regardless to what anyone there may say.. I'm not some punk kid .. and I will not be treated like one in the flesh or in cyberspace. I never said what they accused me of .. and the posts were deleted so I had no defense..    they booted me on sight..  and that was that.. I said screw it.. I don't need to be in a place that is run that way. They gave me a lifetime ban. If I try to log in there to this very day I get that Homer Simpson head X-ray avatar that they use.. I was told that I accused anyone who opposed then Senator Obama of being a racist.. which I did not do.. (some of you may remember similar discussions on the UBI boards at the time) and as I said .. my posts in my own defense .. which were even more clearly stating what I said..  because that was not what I said... were deleted.. and I was banned.  Wheels came to my defense and said ... basically "That is not the Bearcat I know ..  there has to be some mistake here.." and they basically told him he was wrong and since there was no evidence of what I said.. even my original posts were deleted.. so basically I still have a lifetime ban on that board ... for .. what..? In the post I linked to their boards there was a link to similar posts on the UBI forum but I see someone there changed the link to something resembling nambla... <_< a further testament to the mentality I suppose... Whatever.

 

As far as I am concerned they can keep it. As far as you are concerned.. I hope it works out for you... In spite of the way I was treated the site had and probably still does have some good stuff there if WWII birds is you thing so good luck... but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. H@ll ... you don't even know why you were banned...  really? REALLY?   If you don't even know then it was probably BS to begin with.. and whatever it was .. if it was worthy of a permanent ban.. one would think that you would remember.. so..

 

This is one reason why to this day I do not like to issue permanent bans .. IMO they are just not right unless someone violates a law...

Some of those Admins from back then are not around much, if at all, Bearcat. Other Admins are not as draconian as before but are still somewhat on a power trip.  Tho it took some time, they finally gave the boot to the Hungarian and the expert on everything.

I wish them all well... but it's water under the bridge AFAIC..  The only reason I brought it up was because of VikS' post .. I was actually surprised at the way it all went down though ..  That's the only forum I have ever been banned from.. There is some good stuff there.. Hopefully VikS wll work it out..

I just checked the member list and I am not seeing you listed Viks which is not surprising considering banning someone removes them from the members list. I also checked to see if I could find any posts by you and that came up empty too.

 

If this isn't resolved by the time you read this post Viks go ahead and send me a PM with the username that you used when you joined ww2aircraft.net, the email address that you used when you joined, and the aproximate date that you joined. I should be able to find out what happened and get back to you.

 

I will be out all day Saturday so this will probably take most of the weekend to get sorted.

I hang on a forum with a lot hotter temperatures than the old UBI-zoo, still they manages not to ban people for those kind of things. They basically have one rule: Do not discuss politics, US politics in particular.
