pa4tim Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 In WT I have many controller set ups. Not only plane/tank/ship but also some that I load for specific vehicles or battle type. In IL2 the TC part does not integrate, lets say, optimal because a tank is a lot different in controls and play style. I will not have problems with that if I could use my mouse to operate simulated (almost no mapping needed) switches in the cockpit. Or for instance an in game pull down help window. Or a possibility to easy save and recall different control mappings from in the game's main menu or so. I already understood that a mouse to control a plane is a good thing but using a mouse to "push" real looking buttons in a real looking cockpit with real looking meters is a big no no and a rather sensitive subject. I understand that, it gives the long time players an advantage over newby's struggling with all controls (a mouse, a joystick, a throttle unit and a keyboard with an insane amount of key combinations, but I like it that you can control almost anything so keyboard control was decennia long the only way) Menu/window driven is probably a lot of programming work but saving separate set ups (that stays valid after updates) must be not to hard I guess. I found somewhere on the WWW there are files in a map that hold the key mapping but I could not find all of them. I think this was for an old version of IL-2 while I only had TC and Bodenplatte. Does any one know if these maps are still here and if I can replace them without relaunching the game ? If yes I will make separate maps for each set so they can all have the same name and I can swap them. I could try it but I am afraid I wreck the game because it could be that the game stores other data in there too. I would like to use the buttons on my joy/throttle units to control some things regarding the engine, but then can I no longer use them for tanks. I now have a compromise but it is a bit cumbersome
