I am new in this game - I need some advice for HW upgrades

This is my first posting in this forum, actually just installed the game ;-)

 

If everything is working as intended, you will see my main hardware items in my signature.

 

I have to get a new processor, the one I have fails on core 1 mostly, core 3 more seldom. I am aiming for a Intel Core i5-3570 Processor Socket-LGA1155, Quad Core, 3.4GHz, 6MB, 77W, HD2500 - Is this a sufficient CPU for this game for the next couple of years?

My GPU is a bit to weak I think. My goal is to play on a 120+ mhz screen, size 24 - 28''. I have been looking at typical Geforce GTX 760 - with enough RAM - has anyone experience with this level of GPU in this game - will it give me the FPS I am aming for?

 

I play WarThunder, I can get +/- 50-60 FPS, on medium to high settings. I want to play on highest settings with 120 FPS in the future. In full SIM mode it's very important to have a best possible screen view to spot an enemy early as possible - I guess this will be the case in this game too. Anyhow, this is the theory behind my thoughts on HW upgrades.

 

I am open for suggestions and Your experiences.

120 fps on Ultra settings ? Certainly not with a 760. I own a Phantom 760 4GB and it gives me currently 25-65 fps depending on settings. But everything is WIP in these graphic stuff, so i´d wait until the game is out before bying new hardware for a 120fps experience.

Not sure why you need 120 FPS, but just to give you an idea, i run BoS with a GTX 660 Ti, which is very similar to GTX 760 and can't even get a constant 60 FPS with 1680x1050 resolution.

 

So no, you won't be able to run BoS with 120 FPS with that card (i don't think any card can do that, atleast not with a 28" screen).

I found a topic on hardware issues after I posted mine, so my expectations decreased in the GPU and FPS topic.

 

I also understood that my plan for the CPU is quite ok. so I will stick to that part of the plan. I know people who manage to get 120 FPS in WarThunder, after playing simulator level there I realised that a good vision is important, I understand now that my expectations were to high and probably not suited for my wallet.

 

A working CPU and a better monitor than my present will be realized I presume.

 

Thanks for advice, now I have to figure out how to set up my system to be able to fly this things - it differs a lot from WT and my CFS (Microsoft) experience some 15 years ago. I am learning, don't crash all the time.

I posted in the german part of this forum, that monitoring prozessor and GPU- usage i dont get much over 50% usage of the GPU regardless what settings i use. As FPS are 20-30 using ULTRA 30-45 using HIGH settings i decided to choose below HIGH and set asini anositrophic, eh, everything    to 8x in the drivers settings and it seems to work, higher framerates and still good quality. Actually GTX 760 is a significant upgrade from 660ti.

But like Allons said, too early to say, the ultra settings optimisation is still very WIP.

I just installed my new CPU - a I5 3570K - the improvement is significant. In War Thunder I can run on the highest setting with 55- 70 fps. I have tested IL2 with significant better performance, I have to test more and install software that can tell me fps.

 

Next step in upgrading is a sharper GPU, just have to wait for a new pay check to arrive ;-)
