Remontti Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I haven't really followed tank forums so I don't know if this has been discussed before. I find navigating awkward as the map is too undetailed. The map is fine for aerial operations but not for ground operations. For example in towns it is really hard to tell where you are when the only land marks are the roads. Same goes for trees and woods. There can be plenty of trees that are not marked in anyway in the map. 1 1
RIVALDO Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Should there be street signs and big banners on the trees, along with working street lights ?I guess a couple of AI civilians walking by, would be quite handy, in case we wanna stop them and ask for directions... 2
[_FLAPS_]RogoRogo Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Well, maps of the era, even the military ones were not that precise to begin with.. but since it just "is" the aerial minimap you access in a tank... who knows... I found scratching my head until I was sure whether I am on the right road or where I actually am in MP (fe on KOTA) quite enhancing (on the other hand - you can always see the glass half full if you try hard enough) Maybe more integration of the proper military markings for mission creators (manually placeable, purely "cosmetic") would help. And looking at old maps, they really were not that precise... 1

You really think the current map is adequate? Here are some maps from the era and they are a lot more detailed. https://relay.nationalgeographic.com/proxy/distribution/public/amp/culture/2018/08/soviet-russia-maps-captured-world-war-II 2
migmadmarine Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 I mean, really the only thing we are missing from that is the elevation lines innit? We have the forests, villages with accurate layouts, airfields with accurate layouts, as well as the accurate roads and rail lines, so what else is missing?
No.332.Animal_NO Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 Elevation lines would be very cool, especially when navigating the mountains in the Kuban map.
[_FLAPS_]RogoRogo Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) Well.... if anyone is still interested - as much as you can find superdetailed maps, you can also find the opposite - the question still is about availablity and likelyness to exist about what region in what detail in what respect and for whom. Recently by pure chance and on youtube of all places I stumbled upon the attached map (it just showed up on my landing page). If you notice the stampigliae and the inscriptions you can place it on the side of Wehrmacht/Stab - so it would be of the best mapping materiel available in quantity. The depiction even places it firmly in a timeperiod. youtube "source" link "Stalingrad Battle Data: Winter Storm - Thunder Strike: Decision to Breakout from Stalingrad, narrated by TIK": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmiNtVTF1Z4 Edited January 31, 2020 by [_FLAPS_]RogoRogo
