TWHYata_PL Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) Looks great , with rgb pixel pattern and direct rendering inside hmd. Edited June 1, 2019 by TWHYata_PL
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 End of 2019. Price will be above the current Pimax 8K. Now the big question, get the reverb until then or buy in to the Pimax eco system with a Pimax5K+ / 8K. Is there anyone who has tried both by now ?
TWHYata_PL Posted June 2, 2019 Author Posted June 2, 2019 (edited) I tried both in Berlin and 5k+ wins in terms of picture clarity and percived resolutions. 8k have better SDE. Edited June 2, 2019 by TWHYata_PL 1
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Thanks TWHY. I wonder which one will be better for spotting at a distance. The reverb seems terribly limited regarding its FOV. Reviews said the vertical one is much less than even the other Odyssey's. I've heard the vertical one of the Pimax is great as well. I'll find out soon probably.

Just briefly checking your six is one thing but to shake someone off you need to keep them in view and counter their every move. To do that effectively a proper peripheral vision helps and also gives a higher situational awareness in general. Imho crucial to be effective in anything but a duel. One could argue realism but that kind of goes out the window when your up against owl-heads ?

I think it simply refers to a lower "internal SS" applied to the render when you set SS=100%. In the current Pimax5K+, with normal FOV, when you set SS=100% the render per eye is 3852 x 3291, that is 344% more than the 5K+ panel resolution. I call this absolute SS, which is 3.44 for the Pimax5K+. That´s why when I put 60% SS I still get a very detailed image. The effective SS is very dependent on the device. I think here he said that the new Pimax8K X will have an absolute SS closer to one. I think this is just sales-marketing pitch. The lenses are the same, so they need the same distortion profile correction. They simply reduced the internal SS (or absolute SS). Anyhow, a higher resolution panel is always welcomed since it will always produce a more detailed image for the same amount of pixels (assuming you always render more pixels than panel pixels.). So these news are very much welcomed. If they debug and improve the FFR technique the Pimax8K X will be our dream. But I wish they focus also in providing an integrated audio solution and provide a bit better head fixing (ideally like Rift)
Lusekofte Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 wonder if you can run this on a 1080TI Buying a 2010 and this is a tad much compared to my interest. I might hold back on buying the OR on permanent loan for this.

TWHYata_PL Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 CPU utilization in Il 2 is a problem for every headset on the market.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 IL-2 needs 4.8 or 4.9GHz per core. 9600K and his bigger brothers are fit for that task. They have soldered heat sinks and are perfectly overclockable. Unless you go cheap on the mainboard with a shitty VRM ? Fast RAM is also important. Then the system can push frames quickly enough for the GPU to render them. I got an RTX2080ti right now and on the Odyssey it's terribly underworked. Like young Arnold carrying bananas in the supermarket. Just overkill. I need a more violent headset.
