Benchmarking

I would really appreciate if there was a way to benchmark my computer on this sim.

E.g. a track to run like the “Black death” track we have in original Il2. Then we can compare results and judge what hardware/software is best and sufficient.

I would like that too. I soon want a new computer especially in mind for BOS. Then it would be nice to know which components people suggest for maximum performance.

Right now it would simply be benchmarking an incomplete piece of software and would not reflect anything like a requirement for the finalised product.

Perhaps this is so Bongo but we need to start somewhere. And just when is a flightsim a finalised Product? Never Id say!

PS! This thred is better posted in the "Suggestion" department please feel free to move it.

We can theorise all we like when a product is finished, but the fact remains it is considered complete when released and hardware requirements will not change significantly beyond that point.

I might add that diverting attention from the main development to concentrate on an ancillary utility won't be of benefit, there are benchmarking utilities already in existence anyway that truly do give an indication of the strengths and weaknesses of ones system.

And I might add that all game engines are not created equal, you test one and it will give little info on performance on this sim.

And what is a diversion or what is of benefit is certainly a personal question, I for one, would happily give up this “MP thing” for a descent benchmark utility.

And now back on toppic please!

I didn't realise we had gone off topic, this is titled benchmarking isn't it?

”All” that we need is the ability to record and play tracks from the sim within the sim.

It can’t be rocket science (as if I know shit about programming!) and it surly will be implemented sooner or later. Given an fps counter in the game or something like fraps it is then possible to see what difference a change of drivers, hardware, settings etc etc will make.
