Which Air-force do you usually fly for on the Eastern Front and who will you usually fly for on the Western Front when Bodenplatte releases?

Thread title pretty much covers it, just bear in mind that it's about who you fly usually, ie., predominately., so if you you intend to vote for more than one, it's because you pretty much fly for both in an even amount.

 

If you do vote it's always interesting to know why. However your vote will remain private regardless.

 

I'm going to give it a time limit of 2 months, as once Bodenplatte is out this vote will be of little interest.

 

If you think I missed something or it could be done better, I'm open to suggestion.

To set the ball rolling I chose VVS for EF & Luftwaffe for the late war West scenario, although I'm sure tempted by the Tempest and will occasionally fly RAF.

 

Why? Because I'm more of a homeland defense type of guy than a homeland invader.

I fly everything and I like to rotate. I get bored after flying the same thing over and over. Reading the pilots notes i like to discover little things that are specific to each plane and manage them accordingly.

 

I am not a great shot with any of them, but I'd say I've mastered almost every plane in the sim and now i want to learn more non-core instruments and gauges (those that you could safely ignore and yet add more immersion).

Need a mixed vote for both fields. I fly Luftie on the East Front exclusively. I will probably do about a 60/40 split on Bodenplatte. It will depend largely on whether I am lone wolfing or flying with my wingmate, Zot.

EF: I fly mainly VVS but I am not sure if there is a specific reason as usually I try to stay even. 

 

Bodenplatte: Planning to stay even.

 

Generally I am trying to be even to know by myself all the pros and cons of all choices and how everything is handled so I can counter it with more insight.

Not sure I understand? I put a Both option in the EF vote & an All 3 in the West. Or are you suggesting something else?

 

I had wanted to set it out in a way that would clearly show the progression of someones choices, but have yet to come up with an ideal (read simple) solution for that.

Needs a "both" for Luftwaffe/USAF and/or Luftwaffe/RAF. I will be splitting Luftie/US but probably not much RAF machinery other than a few familiarization hops.

That damn 262 ruin a clean RAF for me. Need to fly a real schnellbomber once or twice. I guess the rest of it will be Tempest, P 38, Tempest, Tempest Tempest and P 38.

Same, I´m here for the aircraft and for the side that flew them. The more the better and the more variety the better.

I've seen someone, can't remember who, say on this forum that they buy everything the team produce, but don't fly them all, making the purchase simply to support the Great Battles series. So in a sense they haven't wasted their money.

 

I sort of understand this pov, as I buy everything they release, but some of the aircraft in my hangar get very little use at all, like the Bf-109G-6, which I bought mainly to support the team, knowing that it would get very little use when compared to others and CoD I gave away without registering the key I bought.

 

For me this little poll stemmed from asking myself who I would fly for on the TAW server when Bodenplatte releases. So it was more online-centric to start with, but I decided to leave that out in the end.

 

I fly all of them offline to a greater or lesser extent and have even flown campaigns in the U2 and Ju-52, which were both fun and challenging.

With mixed votes enabled 4 options would have sufficed in section #2: LW / RAF / USAAF / not interested in late war. I would have checked all four

While I absolutely share this sentiment, time is the issue. I find most of the planes available thrilling - basically every plane except for the pe2's and the u2. BUT I barely find the time to learn new planes - so except for some short familisation flights I stick to 109s and 190s mostly :)

 

If I had all the time I'd fly all ABD learn Falcon 4.0 ^^

Depends on the server and the sides-ratio of players.

I'll usually try to fill up the side with less players.

 

Flying VVS in 1941 makes my eyes misty, though.

I'd usually try to get a Pe-2 and do some sneaky stuff then...

LUFTWAFFE as shown in my Tag mostly 109s 190s all variants and also now 262 a special beast

VVS mostly. Their aircraft seem more intuitive to me. 

 

The Me109 is nice enough, especially the F4, but I don't like the instrumentation and the cockpit is too cramped. The cockpit is the clincher for me. So it's Yak1 or Mig3. I also like to be able to open the canopy for a good clear look around and see past the nose on approach and landing. The I16 is my favourite although I am having difficulty with my eyepoint position and FOV. Not that it's too much of a problem as I fly it head out of the cockpit anyway like a WW1 ace!

 

The FW190A is over-rated in my opinion. I'll see how I like the Dora when I can get Bodenplatte for a decent price.
