von_Michelstamm Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 what exactly does this do? when i bind it to an axis or button, it does nothing. I was looking for a real 109 style WEP, where moving above 1.3 ata automatically weps till you damage your engine. Currently using the toggle WEP binding lets you WEP using the throttle but then it turns off on its own.
Herne Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 which 109's are you talking about ? I havent flown the later models for a while, but pushing throttle to 100% may or may not operate the MW50. If not it may need the "boost" key On the briefing map "o" default key, you should see a tab called technical specifications on the right hand side. This will give you a whole load of useful info about the plane you are flying. It should also contain info on the MW50 if it is fitted.

Is just another CloD unfinished feature, forget this. Will be not bad idea if TF hidden this and another dozen of useless CloD controls (like assignments for engine #3 up to #8). If you assign a button for this control, by press that button in game throttle goes to 100% - but not for WEP or "emergency power" that is 110% of throttle course. This happens regardless of joystick throttle actual position, resulting in jump in engine power when you move joy throttle after. If you assign this to joystick throttle axis are not able to use joy throttle for control and use an exclusive axis for this "throttle war emergency power" make no sense, IRL planes don't work in this way, with 2 levers for throttle in single engine planes. Quote I was looking for a real 109 style WEP, where moving above 1.3 ata automatically weps till you damage your engine. Currently using the toggle WEP binding lets you WEP using the throttle but then it turns off on its own. CloD Bf 109-E series use the same "gamey" WEP button of IL-2:46 for engage "WEP", not the throttle lever position like in IRL plane. But for disengage is modeled correctly, "WEP" disengage automatically after 1 minute, because in Bf 109-E RL throttle are a spring mechanism timed for move throttle back a bit after 1 minute. Bo'X Bf 109 F, G... model "emergency power" management (with joystick throttle) correctly , is controlled just by throttle lever position, like in IRL. On the other hand, Bo'X model Spitfire "boost" in "gamey way", by press a button that move the throttle lever limiter (that "red flap") and simultaneous increase manifold pressure. IRL the "red flap" just prevents that pilot move throttle lever for end of course, where the "boost" is activated. The "red flap" is just a physical limiter for throttle movement, not a device for activate "boost". Besides this in IRL Spitfire are a mechanical "detent" in throttle rail, pilot need tilt the lever for left for by a steep in throttle rail, entering in boost zone. In Bo'X the throttle lever animation depict this "steep". The (Spitfire) pilot need bypass two security mechanism before engage "boost". Edited May 31, 2019 by Sokol1 1
Sokol1 Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 My guess is that CloD developers want this "throttle war emergency power" axis setup similar to Falcon 4.0 afterburner. In this game controls options is possible player define what position of stick throttle course will activate "afterburner" (and "idle"), but CloD programmer don't understand the concept and fail.

Thanks! Though I’ve noticed when I engage it it still runs down the clock even when I have ata below WEP levels. Is that how it functioned? how long was the reset timer in real life before it could be used again? Edited June 1, 2019 by von_Michelstamm
Sokol1 Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) The German document (Google translate) say for move throttle lever for "Abflug" (takeoff) position - what engage the timer mechanism and give 1 minute of extra power, and then move throttle lever back for "Volllast" (full power) position, that keep throttle lever in "Abflug" will not increase neither the time or the power after 1 minute, just increase fuel consumption. Including suggest add a coil spring between throttle lever and pilot seat for help move throttle back for "Vollast" position, since the force needed for operation is 1.4 mkg (an obsolete unit of torque). This make throttle lever operate like a momentary switch in this portion of their course and avoid waste fuel. In game the time mechanism (activated with the command "Toggle War Emergency Power") delivery extra power (1.4 ATA) during 1 minute, but if meanwhile move throttle back the pressure drops, what is against the document - since determines to move throttle lever back for "Volllast" position after activate the timer, suggesting that in game operation is wrong (what will be not news in CloD). In game is possible use the "WEP" again after 15 seconds (timed in clock chronometer in instrument panel ), but since the engine temperature rise in the first use, are risking blow up the engine.
