Any news or communication about getting Early Access through Steam?

Hi, I don't mean to ruffle any feathers but if this was on Steam I would buy it in a heartbeat. I loved IL-2 and the current TF patched CoD too and I would like you to take my money, thank you. Currently the other payment options are not good for me. If not Steam supported would there be any chance to buy the Premium Edition access key through Steam so I could input it here? Did Rise of Flight support this form of purchase? I haven't yet given that one a look yet but there are ace packs and such on sale in Steam, do they work like that?.

If someone in the know could answer, mayby a community helper or such could ask the devs I would be most grateful. Again I didin't see a support forum but I might have missed a proper thread for this line of questioning if so I'm sorry. Thank you in advance.

NVM: I am a moron. just saw the ask the devs topic. Please delete this thread.

I'm glad you brought it up again, I think they really need to go for a Steam release at some point. I'd buy the game again just to get it on Steam...Hell, I have 2 copies of all the DCS titles and 2 copies of RoF since they released retail and on Steam at different times.

I hope they change their minds on a Steam release, I know there many more out there that want it on Steam like myself.

I wish 777 would have launched RoF on Steam like Eagle Dynamics where your original serial keys could be transferred over. I got a few friends playing DCS after they saw me online in their friends list playing it and with the Steam sales I've bought them content too. Its a good way to spread the word.

I like Steam as well and the widespread use of the platform woild hopefully boost the user base.

Im sure they have considered this as well as run some numbers. I'm sure there's allot of factors that were not aware of too.

+1 for steam support. I remember I activated my RoF key successfully at steam. Would be cool with BoS too.

With ROF on steam it seems inevitable that it should be released there as well. But perhaps they don't want any bad press by releasing a game at 44% on there and the inevitable backlash of people who aren't capable of reading or understanding anything (but still want to play flight sims for some reason)

I think that this probably should only go on steam when it is either very close to release (or at least feature complete for the most part) or released fully, as it stands, I don't think a lot of folks on steam would pay attention and understand that they can't play it outside the weekends, the steam forums for it would be full of people saying it is broken, a rip-off, etc because they did not pay attention.

Steam currently does feature Early Access system where half finished games go (Rust, DayZ-SA, and etc) and you do indeed pay for the right to beta test a product that warns you it's not even close to finished yet. Works like you expect it to and would generate that all crusial awareness among the intrested populace.

But you are indeed right about first impressions. But I think flight sims are slow burn games and instead of one big release that everyone forgets about as soon as it's off the front page, they live on in the form of updates, expansions and positive word of the players gathering their base slower. Thus generating awareness is key in sim world. If currently Steam frontpage wasn't such a mess with shovelware pushing anything good out of sight I would also admit that the IL-2 brand hanging on the new releases tab would bring back those who loved 1946 but cut back on flight sims after initial dissapointment of what CoD was.

At the very least I wish they would let you pre-order the game for release even if no early access was offered. I would buy Premium Edition just to support what I consider a good developement in flight simming. Mayby compensate those who wanted early access with a small coupon instead (15% off the next plane offered for release or some expansion planned). I can get behind that.

+1 from here

Steam support is must have on these days. Biggest digital game distributor on the internet. A LOT people are missing BOS just because they haven't heard about it! We still see people coming every week on these forums because they recently heard about BOS. Final version is must have to steam, at least the cheaper more consumer friendly version.

We should really make some kind of petition for them to understand the interest towards the steam platform. Sure there might be some people that prefers no 3rd party platform for bos and that's ok but I'm willing to bet a lot of money that wishes using bos via steam client and maybe haven't even heard about the game. + it's known that if your game is on top of steam page on featured it sells pretty well as new release.

And allow us to transfer keys from IL2 website to steam and allow us to use both clients. I have transfered my DCS and KSP games on steam without problems. On top of that when your game is on steam sale it's known to sell pretty well if your game is good!

This, so much. Even in a game like Dayz, which is clearly labeled as an alpha, and actually makes you click under the message about the game being in early alpha (and to expect issues) every time you log in to play, people still gripe on the BI forums, Reddit, pretty much anywhere there is Dayz discussion.

You can run steam client then login with your original account for same effect... all you lose are steam archievements.
