Flying Circus - general status update?

Recommended Posts

This was announced, what, a year ago?  Year and a half?   How is it going?   Do we have a release date yet?

Any news or comments appreciated.   I bought this when it was announced and have been waiting patiently for some progress.

Good evening,

of course, one or two things have changed for FC. I would recommend this thread to you, there are at least all official status updates as far as known, on page 6 you should find all relevant information. Yet, there is no offical Release Date announcend. But as far as I know the next update will be the Albatros and the SE5a. So only the two-seaters are missing. The map is already being worked on, so we can assume that FC will probably be finished this year.

And you can find some interesting Points in the Interview from ShamrockOneFive on his, pretty good, Stormbirds Blog:

https://stormbirds.blog/2019/02/06/part-1-an-interview-with-jason-williams-and-daniel-tuseev-il-2-great-battles-series/

i hope that can help you a little bit :)

Have a nice Day,

Rico

We are going to get the Albatros DVa and the SE5a in the next couple weeks, and then, as mentioned, we still have to get two two-seaters. Then the Arras map should arrive, I believe, in the third quarter. Then we might get on beta state. I'm not sure about the official release, but I imagine it would happen in 2020, when we might get further developments and bug fixes.

But you can fly the planes that were already released on the maps that are available right now. You can also try multiplayer. The community has two gatherings happening during Fridays (Old Geezers server) and Sundays (Jasta 5 Flugpark server), both starting after 19:00h GMT time. It runs from 3 to 4 hours ranging from 10 to 20 players strong, sometimes more. Now it is a good time to get acquainted with the planes and the players if you intend to play multiplayer. So far we are having a lot of fun, and every week we see new people arriving.

hi all, from what i understand, we will not be getting a ww1 2 seat plane in FC Volume 1, the only option is to use the U2vs, we have very good replacement skins to make them look like ww1 planes, but was wondering how do i give AI plane a ww1 custom skin, so the AI its self uses the ww1 skin, set mission editor. is it even possable ?

Here you may read up on the 2 two-seaters we can expect next after the SE5a & Alb D5a to come soon:

https://il2sturmovik.com/store/flying-circus/

-The Bristol Fighter F.II

and

- The Halberstadt Cl II

each with their engine mods for

Bristol Fighter F.III and Halberstadt CL.II 200hp

The U2 is for the moment only used as a placeholder for one of those.

Hi Paul

Whoever is putting the map together can assign skins to any plane in the mission editor.

@ Daedallus

I heard some complains about the naming of custom skins in the editor.
From what I understood the mission editor does not give their proper file names to chose from only something like 1/2/3 etc which makes it impossible to know exactly what one is referred to.
I may have understood this wrong ...

....but will other players be able to see the same custom skins you assign in editor if they have not downloaded the same custom skins....?

Yeah, telling friend from foe with U-2 makes it more trouble thanit's worth unless only one side has them.

That, and the WW1 plane they approximate the best is B.E.2...

not any more, if you have the u2vs ww1 skins and the mission creator uses ww1 skins for ai , you will see russian u2vs as ww1 raf skin and greman u2vs as ww1 german skin

Don't know where to ask this, but here goes.  I bought into Flying Circus early access but can't for the life of me get it started.  Can anyone one give me some simple directions?

What are you trying to start? Flying Circus is still in early access, so the map isn't available yet. You should however be able to fly the FC aircraft that have been released, both in multiplayer (if you can find a server with FC aircraft) and in quick missions.

Note that you should only have one install, for BoS (which I see you already have) and for FC. It is all integrated into the same application.

Do we get the FC this year ??

With only two more aircraft and the map to finish, I'd assume so.
