Hi pilots has anyone else been having trouble with the bombs safety switch on the p-47 ? i thought maybe my x52 was faulty even though its only a few weeks old , while flying in campaign the button i assigned was working one time and not the next, i have since tried it in quick mission multiple times and still having same problem, i tried other planes to rule it out and it worked fine any ideas ?

Bomb safety?   As far as I am aware none of the Allied aircraft use one.   I can certainly confirm that there is no need to use turn off the bomb safety on the P47 as I have done a lot of ground attack in the P47 and don't even know what key combo controls the bomb safety switch.  If you are having trouble with P47 bombs not exploding then it could be that you are dropping too low and have the bomb delay set too short.   I believe the bombs arm themselves after being dropped but they need about 5 seconds to do it.    Try setting your bomb delay to 5 seconds then you should be able to drop as low as you want.

Thanks for the reply, the problem is i always like to have bomb safety on until i spot my target but with the p-47 it works one minute and not the next i have been known to press the button at least 6 times and still nothing then after some growling and screaming at my rig Lol it works, i fly the spitfire a lot and have no trouble with that in fact no trouble with any planes just the p-47, i understand what you mean about the bombs not going off because i have made that mistake in the past, but thats not the problem im just used to always using the bomb safety switch and for some reason its being a right pain in the hole on the p-47, just the other night when i was flying in campaign and had trouble with it i thought my mapping was fubar but nobody had been at the pc to have messed anything up.

I always use the bomb safety switch - when I taxi and take off. It's for my immersion and also if something goes wrong on

ground and take off, I don't blow myself in pieces and there is a fair chance I survive a crash landing.

But, be sure to arm your bomb when you are airborne, because if you think of doing it just before the attack run, you might

forget this in the heat of the battle. I did some "harmless" bombing runs once or twice, saw the impact and was quite

confident to have hit the target quite well, but finally just noticed the impact of the bombs without them going off. Grrrr...

As for the P47, I think it's just as Roblex told you. There is no safety switch. All other (Russian) airplanes do have safety

switch functions.

Maybe Americans weren't that worried about accidentaly dropping Bombs on the wrong target since the War wasn't on theyre Ground.

But in adition to the reasons above maybe it is a bit better for crew morale knowing that the Bomb strapped to the belly of the plane wich an enemy is shooting at won't explode that easy. Alto i don't know if that is how Bombs work but anyway, I always defuse them when i get into Air Combat.

Every American plane in the game has a bomb safety mechanism.
