Weeeps Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 So I noticed tons of Il-2 pilots have been using saitek x52 and some Naturalpoint trackIR 5. Well in denmark we don't have TrackIR5 and the saitek x52 seems too expensive for a "Rookie" I bought my extreme 3d pro to try il-2 or battleground europe. So far I enjoy it but I feel I can't play the releastic il-2 becacuse I don't have the trackIR5 much easier to look around. So I was wondering, how will the movement/Controls be for extreme 3d pro? - Will they be just as good as more expensive joysticks?
Emgy Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Bor du virkelig i Danmark? i så fald kan du købe trackir hos http://www.flightsimshop.se/index.php?language=dk but I have my doubts.
Weeeps Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Born and raised in Denmark, had some trouble playing il-2 cliffs of dover. Great game, great players etc. Love the realism. Its just hard to watch your RPm etc with extreme 3d pro. Flying is smooth, I will see if I can scratch some money for that trackIR.
SacaSoh Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I've been using a T.16000M and it is way superior to X52 in terms of precision. With the money that you'll save (T.16000M is 70~80% cheaper) you can get a throttle quadrant - for X52 has the advantage of having all axes and hats needed for complex engine management.
DeafBee Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) I am from Denmark too. Bought Track IR5 here in Denmark. You can get it here: http://www.conradelektronik.dk/TRACKIR-5-INKL.-VECTOR-EXPANSION-SET-BASECAP.htm?websale8=conrad-dk&pi=918897&tduid=f0bce1a15b76420535e3a0a5e0e21bdd For Joystick the MSFF2 and for the Saitek x52 for Trottle and button bay. Pedals the Saitek combat pedals. I have the Thrustmaster T.16.000 which is a really great joystick. But still prefer my old MSFF2 from 2006 because of its Force Feedback. Weeeps Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 yeah I have had some trouble flying/Aiming in il-2 cliffs of dover beacuse of the poor sensitivty. I mean, when I try to follow the airplane my joystick will like "Shake" Idk if it's beacuse of my hand or the joystick. It's a cheap joystick tho. Also in battleground Europe if anyone know that game. And idk if I will ever need Pedals. Just throttle and joystick
Sokol1 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) Weeps, So I was wondering, how will the movement/Controls be for extreme 3d pro? On HAT and buttons on top part of joystick you should map: - Vision control = look around, instant look for gunsight.. (is possible "survive" without TrackIr). - Fire primary weapons (MG and Cannon only - bombs and rockets are secondary*) On buttons on base: - Important engine controls = radiators, proppeler pitch, supercharger... (leave secondary things like landing gear, flaps, mixture for keyboard) * Bombs and rockets no need put on joystick top because you use this controls only a few seconds on every mission (if are able to use at all), and put then o key with "safet" cover, e.g. Alt+tab. You can maximize your josytick buttons using a keymapper (I like JoyToKey, this use low resources, dont crash like joystick softwares, can be started even with game running, can reconfigured "on the fly"), setting different profiles you can use e.g trigger on profile 1 for fire MG, on profile 2 drop bombs/fire rockets... Blitzen Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I have Microsoft's FFB stick & it works with everything except this sim.In Custom controls I can get a bit more control ( in offline play only...in online its hoprless,) of what in every other setting is an exremely wobbly airplane in all axis's.I have been told it isn't activated yet or only partially.Does anyone know? Is there a kind on config file tthat i can check if it is simply turned off ( inspite of the fact that I do have it checked "on" in the settings. This lack of decent FM in all planes is driving me crazy!

Blitzen, here is a suggestion that I saw in another thread. El_Marta Founder Posts: 20 Posted Today, 00:12 No FFB? Check wether your data\input\current.devices file reads like this: &mouseSensitivity=4 &mouseAcceleration=0 &mouseInvertYAxis=0 &ffEnabled=1 &ffForce=1 &ffShaking=1
Blitzen Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Just checked & yes to all of the above but not in the order shown above...i copied & pasted the above into this file ( after making a copy of the original, but no change is observes in the game...
Blitzen Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Extreme One..Yes FFB works in Il-2 Sturmovik,Rise of Flight,& Cliffs of Dover & works well, but no joy at BoS here.So...I can delete everythingin Input ( I do have a copy of Input) so can I re-apply keystrokes any of these after the presumed reinstall with newest set up download? Possible?
Blitzen Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I've got nothing to lose so I'll give it a try-stay tuned!
Blitzen Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Extreme One - your suggestion did work!I can feel gun recoil now! Great...Now I have a serious question :can I use any of the saved input files to get my old control settings back without having to do them all again manually.Your reply might save me a lot of work..Blitzen
