FlatSpinMan Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 It's old and it shows it. You may not agree with the particular musical arrangement used. But this is still the movie that sells IL2 for me, and, with our new theatre, I think it is still really relevant and worth watching. 2
FlatSpinMan Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 This was the movie that absolutely sold me on IL2 years ago when i watched it in a net cafe in Tokyo. I'd previously played the demo on a disc attached to PC Gamer magazine or something, and kind of liked it, but then I moved back over here and was without a PC for quite a while. I subsisted on movies such as this. Of course, at the time I was blown away by the graphics and only hoped my PC would be able to produce such hi-res images when I finally got running. Initially I couldn't stand this version of "Ave Maria" but the maker of the film matched it very well with the action and 'story' of the clip, so it has really come to grow on me, and now seems just right for this movie, particularly the scene where the 190 bellies in, only to roll and explode - that part always strikes me as very poignant.
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 While I'd like a different rendition of Ave Maria (one with less intrusive American accent), the simplicity of the scope and the raw emotional impact still puts this one in the top class, along with "Pulse" for CoD. 1
