Skull_Leader Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) A friend has offered me his old steering wheel controller. I was wondering if it'd be possible to rig this to some DIY pedals? Would there be controller software conflict? Edited March 18, 2014 by Skull_Leader
Skull_Leader Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 I'm actually planning on rigging some homemade pedals to the actual wheel, so I'd basically be turning the wheel with my feet (the racing pedals that came with the wheel are busted). I'd probably only get a quarter of the wheel's full movement, would that be enough for precise control? Assuming you can even map a wheel to rudder control.. PS. I realize this idea might be crazy but it's 4am here and I can't sleep 1
VR-DriftaholiC Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Get a force feedback wheel and use a couple of gears to utilise the full rotation
Sokol1 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Will work... but you are playing with pulleys, cables... (IMO) is more easy (and functional) make a entire DIY pedal from scratch. But go ahead, to inspire: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/334348-homemade-rudder-pedal-plans-Forums http://z12projects.blogspot.com.br/2010/08/rudder-pedals-on-cheap.html Sokol1
Skull_Leader Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Those links are what originally inspired me Sokol Here's my basic plan. Dimensions are in no way exact. Hopefully I won't have to straddle the housing of the wheel too widely. 1
