kkkkaio37k Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 (edited) First off, let me start by saying that I'm not having a 'typical' user experience, despite extremely common hardware, in 20+ years of PC gaming, I've NEVER had an issue even similar to one of the dozen I've had with this one already. So far, honestly, it's been the biggest heap of shit software I've seen. Anger aside, I realllly want to enjoy this game, so I'll explain my background and issues. I played this game for about 40 mins, enjoyed it, got busy, didn't come back for about a week, but when I came back, it would not start. It would get to ~15% loaded on the first loading screen, then not respond for a literal 5 minutes. After these 5 minutes, it would go in game, where the graphics looks super low, and it would get a solid 3FPS.... and when I clicked anywhere it would freeze for another 5 minutes, and wouldn't even click where I clicked, so I was stuck in the menus. I 'fixed' this by deleting all the settings, but when I started the game, it would DEMAND an account, with no option to skip because apparently I "Haven't signed in before"...... even though I have. And when I tried signing in, IT WOULD SAY MY ACCOUNT (Yes, the very one I'm using now, and was forced to make to play the first time) DOES NOT EXIST.... ?♂️ Somehow, I manage to fix these two issues by setting the game to Windows 8 compatibility mode, which now started the game at least and was getting normal FPS. But now I've run into more issues... My TrackIR is not recognised at all, and when I changed the gun trigger, it's recognised in the key mapping slot, but doesn't actually do anything in game (but 'space' to shoot does)... Also, Alt + Tab makes it completely unresponsive... My specs: CPU: i7-7700HQ GPU: GTX 1060 6GB RAM: 16GB DDR4 Storage: 500GB SSD Display: 1080p Edited May 11, 2019 by kkkkaio37k 1
Velxra Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 (edited) Hmm seems you deleted the "ACCData" folder during your first debug attempt. That folder contains your login files so do not delete it. As for the crashing/low graphic I believe that was caused by a combination of choosing in the graphic settings target FPS, vsync, unchecked full screen, and selecting less than 4x anti aliasing at the same time. It personally took me several months to get the game running at an acceptable level (not stuck low graphics or black screen launch) and adjust everything the way I liked/expected the game to behave. iL-2 is pretty horrible with set up issues and as well as endless problems for those just starting in the game and this is no secret. So just know you are not alone in the endless frustrating this causes! Just everyone seems to have their own unique case in what does not work correctly. As for the game not detecting your trackIR, if you are using the TrackIR brand then the software should work. If it does not work then try installing opentrack instead and see if that is detected. You seem pretty experienced so I assume you also set up the program to detect the game and launched the program "before" launching the game as well. Now if neither of those solutions work. Try copying and launching from a shortcut of the il-2 exe file (il-2 directory/bin/game/iL-2.exe). Currently if I launch the game from steam directly then neither my trackIR or my joystick/throttle/pedals will be detected by the game. But if I launch from the shortcut then it magically works without issue. This specific problem started about two weeks ago. Oh and you will be pleased to learn that iL-2 has an unfixable stutter issue with the GTX 960 through 1070 card range. You may have/notice the stutters or you may not, it is luck of the draw. If you do have the stutters either send me a pm or mention it here. Several work-ish arounds for it. Incase things go to poo in the future, keep a copy of these files or folders from the game directory. "startup" config file - this is your graphics and interface settings for the game. "input" folder - this is all your key commands I also keep a copy of my opentrack profile settings as well. Hope this helps or at least gives you something to try. Getting the game to run during the beginning setup of a new user is a royal pain and the results are pretty mixed bag for each user. So expect to be fixing these issues for awhile...
