I have just got a Virpil joystick , and shall now start to keybind to the game 

I Guess ill make it , change until it fit me ....... But ...... 

There is that little tiny one with the trigger .... Pull Up and Down , and Down make a push ..so it have 2 moments ......so ...... What do you use it for .....???????

weapon groups - I use one for small caliber (uper one)and other cannons plus small

Map the first stage for small caliber, then the second stage for eject. After this change, please report back with your findings.

Talk about the same ??? 

 

I Will use the trigger for mashineguns '08' and the one down left '04'  for Canons 

 

The one I talk about ( maybe u 2 ) is " see pic " 

When come down it push '06' and when down it control '32'

That one only has one keypress. The flip up and down dont register as anything (at least not mine).

 

I use it for drop bomb and i keep it up until i know im ready to drop bombs. It acts as a master arm in a way.

In T50 CM2* this foldable trigger press a button when is down and is pressed and another button when is fold back up (or when is folded down, depends on how the button is wired, I don't know) - similar to (VKB) MCG grip foldable trigger but since there  is a analog axis, can "press" more buttons.

 

Press a button when the foldable trigger is moved down/up useful for DCS Mig-15, Mig-21, Ka-50, Bf 109 (but not Fw 190, trigger is modeled more "gamey") for mimic their trigger operation - for some need edit LUA files.

 

Don't see much use for this up function in IL-2GB, there the "safety" of some planes trigger is not modeled and all commands (except flaps) is "toggle": press once for ON, press again for OFF. If the button action happens when trigger is folded down could be used for "arm bombs", then by press the trigger in down position release the bombs. But if happens when the trigger is folded up...

I don't do anything with the flip up/down (I didn't realize that is actually a button) but a 'pull' on the foldable trigger is rockets for me. It stays up and out of the way unless I am doing ground attack.

As I see it, it have a point when you fold it down and one when you push it - 

And I cant see a place in Ill2 where to use it either

 

I guess I will use it for rockets too , bombs I control on my throttle

So here a pic of my buttons , and when the ' dimsedut ' is down the '06' is active and when push it makes the '32' active .... Like fire rockets FX  ...... 

 

So use them both in an active logical way in game I don't see ....

 

 

Maybe make a new Q, but the brakes for russian - in game >slash< is with Virpil an axis , but not in game ..... How to make that ???? ( With 3 program Or in game )

BTW guys how to make brake lever analog, when i press it it shows as button 19, not axie Z

btw in my joy only one position is working press down - 8 , pull up do not highlights any button. I don't use any dedicated software.

AS far as im aware, the windows controller doesnt not work with the Virpil stuff. Certainly didnt with mine. That needs to be configured with their software.

 

For the analogue lever, the only way i could get mine to work was by manually editing a line in the "current" File script (in the inputs folder under data) as below (here my Mongoose is Joy5 to the game)

In IL-2 both button and axis assignments are combined in same control setup , so it will see what it first detects when moving the brake lever - which is a button press as it won't 

detect the axis until it is moved fully in and then out. As the brake lever can be used as button or axis or both, IL-2 will assign it as a button.

I suppose one could temporarily disable the button press in the VPC software , then assign as an axis, after done re-enable the button press if desire to use it for something else.

 

But then I may be just talking out my butt LOL.

In VPC Configuration Tool, "Axis" section, disable "Axis to button".

 

If don't do this, since the button is detected by Key Mapping assignments firts than the axis, is need set the axes manually as SCG_BOO explain above.

The "joy#" may vary for different users.

I have tried your way, with no success  ... And du my thing is my Virpil is 3 , but the game in notes will make it to no 1 

I tried different ways , and if I try to make it to 3 the written axis disappear

I tried different things , make it analog, make subport to 0 and so on 

But I still can't figure it out ?

Your picture is from  'current map' , look for 'current.action" file (in same Input folder):

 

And search this line:

 

rpc_wheel_brakes,                                 joy3_b26,                                        0| // Wheel brakes

 

Change for:

 

rpc_wheel_brakes,                                 joy3_axis_z,                                     0| // Wheel brakes

Look at ~22:24 of this video, the guy show how assign a button to Z axis (brake lever) - axis #3 in VPC Config Tool.
You just need do the inverse, fill all box with 0 and save, no more button is pressed when move Z axes.

Well ..... Thank you ..... But .... Gosh 

Start to feel a little bit dummy ....?

 

I try all ways , and the movie clib is for 2 buttons on a axis , as I see it 

I trygge many dig things 

But I just can let the game see the axis 

 

And a funny thing ... In game no 3 is logical b 26 and I software it's b27 

 

I soon go to doctor for some pills ??

This button number issue don't matter, happens that some games start count buttons from #0 but Windows and joys soft start from #1.

 

You just need change where read joy3_b26 to joy3_axis_z and nothing more.

 

And for do this don't use Wordpad or Word or any word editor, this soft's can add spurious code in configuration files.

Use plain text editor, Notepad or better Notepad++.

The problem was 'wordpad' and now I made it  open in notepad ..... And now it's working 

 

I would never have had the idea that's was the problem .... So I'm very grateful 

 

( And yes , in game it start with 0 and software/windows with 1 - so no problem )

Now it's working , as told ...

But Virpil folks .... 

Msg from Virpil forum is delete the line and then the button mode is gone

For the op question - I use it for opening the bomb bay doors when flipping it down, and then the trigger drops the bombs... Really like it that way.
