Bearcat Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Does anyone here play music? I play bass.. and a little acoustic guitar.. but bass is my main intrument.. Anybody else?
HippyDruid Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 (edited) I play Guitar (mainly electric and acoustic), but I would probably spend more time playing with the most sophisticated musical instrument ever invented: The DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) I own a Jackson Randy Rhodes sharkfin flying V and a lovely Yamaha Flamenco Acoustic. Both, I bought because they sound very nice indeed. I've owned plenty of other craphaus axes over the years, most that ended up either being given away to learners or butchered then turned in to art work. I did quite a number of years at university studying music technology and audio engineering. All to end up working for a very important government organisation, which has absolutely nothing to do with music whatsoever! LOL. It's funny how life pans out! Edited February 1, 2013 by HippyDruid
JG4_Continuo Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Oh well, at least you are earning money this way. I am playing the electric bass, the clarinet, and a little bit of guitar as well. If life pans out the way I want, I?
Bearcat Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 Electric.. I always wanted to give an upright a go... I have a 74 Jazz ...a Jazz V24 .. a Schecter SS5 mm an Ibanez SR 505 that I am giving to my son and a MK Drragonfly fretless 5 ..... I prefer the 5 strings over the 4. I may try a 6 but for now the 5 is the sweet spot for me.

Eagle1291 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Let's see. I play Tuba in one of the my nation's top British Style Brass Bands for youth as well as probably the oldest marching band in a public high school. I play accoustic and classical guitar for fun and sometimes for writing songs to present. I play piano for fun and as well as for in church. I can play most marching percussion to an extent. A good friend of mine said she would teach me flute someday. Any instruments that can be played by using skills from those above and I also enjoy writing and arranging music. S! Eagle
falstaff Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Guitar ..electric and acoustic...I also teach....have owned a fair few 60s guitars and amps, plexi Marshalls etc
T_O_A_D Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) Really Kestrel??? WOW!!!! Well I'll bite, (I'm known for telling the truth as its was lied to me) he and the rest are all pale skinned Northern boys, from staying in doors rue to log winters, and Rock and role sex and Beer, and his tag says Wisconsin. Nice Cover Band, I'd go see em for sure. I searched for them on Reverbnation no luck I'd suggest putting some stuff up over there. Kestrel. Been trying to write lyrics and trying to learn the acoustic guitar, at age 47 is a PIA but I try. I've been trying to sing and record some the last year or so, at home using my PC and backing tracks. I've been using free programs (audacity, reaper etc.) to mix my voice in. It all started again for me since HS when my friend, our forum member and fellow Virtual Pilot Blairgowrie came down with Cancer. I was overcome with the notion to sing a farewell to him, (My Old Friend) from Tim McGraw If you dare you can hear some of it over here. http://www.reverbnation.com/toddallen Its also linked to in my sig. Anyone want to collaborate via the web? Edited February 4, 2013 by T_O_A_D
ACG_Bobo Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I played drums for decades professionaly, Touring the country playing in bars through the 70's, better gig's in the 80's (I even did Saturday Night Live in 82 playing drums for Laura Branigan). I didn't quit till I hit my 50's and mostly 'cause the phone just stopped ringing. Something to do with e-drums and the like. In the 80's I started playing the Highland bagpipe, I've done that professionally now for 20 years. Just about a year ago I got a Sitar...and a real good teacher. Lot's of fun! I'ts pretty much what I do when I'm not obsessing about Military aircraft I still have my old 70's Gretch drums and a set of 1902 Thow Pipes. And of course my authentic 1970's Sitar

I was actually thinking about it a few days ago so maybe it's time to really look into it..
kestrel79 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Thanks guys. Yes we are all pale and from Wisconsin and I'm a skinny distance runner. It was late may and wasn't too warm yet when we recorded that. Thanks for the advice TOAD I'll give reverb nation a look. There are a lot of online music sites I wasn't sure which one was the best. Yes I'm aware it's a tribute cover band, but it's fun as hell to dress up and sing some of those old songs in front of a bunch of people. There's so much ego in the local band realm I try to keep it real.
=IRFC=Jorri Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I play a very little bit of five string banjo
