Some more 'link account with steam' problems

Hello, i have an account here on the site and a steam copy of the game. There doesn't seem to be any way to link the accounts, i've researched the problem and at first it looked like i had to enter my steam cd key on the il 2 site, but then a developer said that since a certain patch this is no longer needed...so i followed the instructions provided and when i get to the in game screen where you should login with your il 2 account i keep getting the 'wrong password' error, even though my credentials work fine here on the site. There's plenty of topics addressing this issue but no solution, except the 'register your steam key' one on older topics. Does anybody have any clue?

The "link account" refers to linking the accounts of the game itself between game bought from the IL2 site and the Sream game! Not linking the Steam game to this forum!
