Nil Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 .. and I earlier thought I've become a better pilot, until I sat down in that tractor, trying to chase the mach 5 109 Damn what an awful plane! I feel sorry for the (RL) russians (and everyone trying to unlock the yak in campaign)Is it better at anything then the 109F ? (except bursting into flame)
ShamrockOneFive Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 It's tougher than the 109 and it can carry a 23mm or 37mm cannon of which both are devastating versus aerial opponents. There isn't much else that it can do better. The 109 is far superior in most other areas.
1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I've got to the point I can hold my own 1v1 in the dump truck but 2v1 I'm just a flying target.
Finkeren Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I find, that if you can initiate combat at speeds above 450 km/h you can enjoy a small window of overall superior agility against AI 109s. That is until you've bled off a bit of energy by which time you better have either damaged your opponent or put yourself in an advantagous position.
76SQN-J0NJ0N Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Your major advantage is the ability to KO your opposition with a short burst of MG fire. It's not a huge advantage, but use your chances wisely and you'll be in with a chance. Not forgetting the most important tactical advice, which is to close unseen to about 40m before opening fire. The 109's advantages are much less noticeable once you've chewed off a wing. S!
IonicRipper Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I quite like to fly the LaGG. Its both challenging and very fun to fly IMO.
dburne Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) I quite like to fly the LaGG. Its both challenging and very fun to fly IMO. Same here, and in fact it is the only plane I have been flying the last couple of weekends, really enjoy it and the challenge. Have been doing both the Lagg Intercept, and Lagg Escort missions. If I can make it through a mission and back to base in one piece, even if the engine is smoking, I feel it was quite the accomplishment. Edited March 9, 2014 by dburnette
