Blitzen Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 i have played CloD since it was first introduced , then modded to be more playable & now of course BLITZ, but one aspect has always disappointed me and that is the lighting in night missions which I believe was first changed when the modders took over the original sim sometime ago. It simply is the least attractive atospheric feature of an otherwise beautiful game esp compared to ( sorry to bring it up in the CloDBlitz forum, but,) Great Battles. Here is a visual comparison.He-111s over a populated area with clouds at 2300,not perfect but as good as I could do quickly: First CloD, then Great Battles: ( The difference isovious: CloD looks almost as if it is a photo negative, which is an old trick for making day for night. The GB shots are far more believable & a beautiful environment to "fly' & fight in....so simply can this be changed in the long anticipated v 5.0? It would make night flight in Northern Europe & North Africa much more attractive propositions,,,) 1
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted April 30, 2019 Team Fusion Posted April 30, 2019 Hello Blitzen Thanks for your question. Obviously the current state of the night graphics environment in CoD is not optimal... there were changes made to the original game in 2013, but we are not focused on the night environment. And because we want to make sure the daytime game gets a large overhaul and upgrade for TF 5.0 that it needs, we will not be making any large scale changes to the night environment for TF 5.0. As you can read on these boards, people want to see the release of TF 5.0 as soon as possible, and if we delayed that release until the night fixes were in place, we'd likely be looking at another 4-5 months. We hope to see improvements in TF 6.0, in the meantime, we ask for your patience. ✌️ 1 1
Blitzen Posted April 30, 2019 Author Posted April 30, 2019 What a great reply..many thanks! I figured it was something like this but wanted you to know that we'll look forward to it whenever the change is possible.?
Sokol1 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 (edited) In ~2012 I was fiddling with that (incomplete) CloD Lorenz blinding landing and (non functional) searchlights and remember CloD nights are very dark, appropriated only for night bomber under radio beacons (Knickebein) and blinding landing system (Lorenz). IMHO - As should be, night is not time for daylight fighters fly. Probable some players have complained that are not possible dogfights at night and night environment was changed at some point, resulting in that now strange colors palet. A picture of He 111 cockpit from Heinkill review (2012) in SimHQ of Desastersoft’s Fighter Aces! Adolf Galland – The Expert, that include a mini-campaign with with He 111 and some missions at night, navigating "over the beam" (Knickebein). http://www.simhq.com/_air15/air_576b.html But worth notice that review author complain against night being dark, because he are not able to see if hit target - what RL Luftwaffe bomber pilots in similar mission are not able to do. "Yes. it’s dark. Who knows if you hit anything?" The "gameplay" argument. Edited April 30, 2019 by Sokol1
