Bando Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Wow, what a story. War is full of those little (not for those involved though) incidents that tends to be forgotten. Great stuff. Thx for sharing.
LLv44_Mprhead Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I think this was the model ai gunners were modelled in original IL-2 Btw, any idea if any of those victories can be confirmed from German records?
ParaB Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 That's half a Staffel of 109s wiped out by a single IL-4. At a time when the Luftwaffe had total air superiority . When the Red Army suffered one catastrophe after another and good news were scarce. Just sayin...
Sokol1 Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 The case was that the Bf 109 pilots of this "anecdote" was typical (OM) il-2 Sturmovik players, so they "parked" behind the bomber at 100 meters co-altitude and speed. I bet that the another 9 pilots of this Staffel were complain to Oberkommando der Luftwaffe that Russian aerial gunners were "Uber" (OP for WT players). Sokol1
