TyphoonOneB Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 My favourite FPS out there right now. A cross between the gun characteristics of Battlefield and the fast paced combat and strategies of the new Insurgency, except with larger and more detailed maps. It also doesn't require a beastly PC, but the immersion of the brutality of war is amazing in this game. When you're running across a snow covered field as you hear the big guns fire in the distance, and then you see you friend get his arms, legs and head blown off by shrapnel, a good insight into harshness of war.
=LD=Hethwill Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Been a while but played it through closed and open for a while. Did not touch Pacific scenarios though. Mostly tanker with some buddies back in the day.
6S.Manu Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Most of my squad have bought it since the beta. We've been disappointed and we still prefer Darkest Hour mainly because of the map design. 1
rolikiraly Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Good game, improved greatly since original release. Can be very frustrating for me sometimes (being shot repeatedly from 'only god knows where', i think you know what i'm speaking about ) but there are some epic moments for sure
SYN_Ricky Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Play it from time to time, I spent countless nights on the First RO (lots of tanking on Arad and Orel map ) and also a bit on Darkest Hour. Edited March 6, 2014 by SYN_Ricky
LordNeuro*Srb* Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Me to from time to time these days, but a lot of if earlyer , wehn i preorder it. But played a lot of RO1 and specialy Darkest Hour. Amezing mode for original RO and there was nice couple of servers with full real settings. U cann look me up on steam so we cann play same time togheter.
johncage Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 comparing it to battlefield is like comparing citizen kane to battlefield earth. it's a bit of an insult to it.
Bando Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I play a lot of RO2. Love Iwo Jima and bridges of Druzhina as sniper. I especially love the sounds of the Jap maps. The ostfront maps have their sounds not so good, but there is a mod by Dibbler 67 that rectifies a lot of things that went wrong (including sounds) in the original RO2. Problem is that it needs to be whitelisted, so it only plays on "mod on" servers which are rarely occupied. Overall: best shooter I've ever seen.
Herbs107 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Play it all the time and love it. Rising Storm maps are great, and the flame thrower is fun..
Bando Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 And that knee mortar. Some guys are experts with the knee mortar. Unbelievable skills here and there. They rack up quite a score.
76SQN-FatherTed Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Most of my squad have bought it since the beta. We've been disappointed and we still prefer Darkest Hour mainly because of the map design. What squad is that? I've played a LOT of DH, so we've probably swapped lead at some point
6S.Manu Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 What squad is that? I've played a LOT of DH, so we've probably swapped lead at some point We played with the 6S tag, but we were not a RO clan. It was a pastime. :-)
kestrel79 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I used to play. I was a big fan of the original and Darkest Hour. I like RO2 but while it still is strategic I don't like how many icons are on the screen now compared to the original.
Corto Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) ähem... 600 h of RO 2. (Bridges of Druzhina very very often on both sides) I am a big fan of RO since first mod for Unreal Tournament. I like the new game "Insurgency" too. BF and other shooters are crap IMHO. Edited March 12, 2014 by Corto 1
MarcoRossolini Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Really enjoy it, one of the few FPSs I can enjoy, the rest seem more about pretty visuals and twitch skills. Love my Mosin-Nagant. (even if it is rubbish and misses half the time)
Bando Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Misses? I believe the MN is the most accurate weapon in the game. I absolutely love it. Especially on open maps when I have the MN with the scope......
Sokol1 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) I can't shoot people. No big deal, in RO2 you have option to poke them with the bayonet. (Not well done like in 7754). Or fry with flamethrower in RS. "Every 7 seconds a German die in Stalingrad, tic tac tic tac Fritz". Sokol1 Edited March 15, 2014 by Sokol1
76SQN-FatherTed Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I can't shoot people For moral reasons, or because you don't shoot straight? Actually, I find RO2 is all about the dying - takes me about two and a half maps before I work out what's going on...
SYN_Ricky Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I can't shoot people You score more point in RO by helping conquering a cap zone than by shooting people
Finkeren Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I haven't played for a while, but it's truly the only WW2 FPS out there worth playing. Awesome game mechanics and one of the only games outside of flight sims where tactics and situational awareness truly matter more than tactile skills.
Steambat Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Love RO2. Nothing like flying over Stalingrad in IL2 BoS, getting shot down then switching over to RO2 to fight on the ground! 1
dave9810 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 For me, RO2 has to be the only game that has the realism factor perfect. I'm not sure what it is, maybe it's never seeing your enemy for more than 1/2 a second or getting shot without warning, the suspense is amazing. I normally play on the campaign servers and can easily play until its finished. The tank driving is awesome too, i don't think many games require you to have three people in one tank.

Arma mutations for WW2 can be way more fun in the tactical depth. Sadly as it is with few servers up, especially for the Arma3 Iron Front.

-Roy-Cheesy-Chops Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 bought it but didnt find the time to play it did look like fun though ..observed a few matches single player was full of errors.but good game Tartan 81
MarcoRossolini Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Misses? I believe the MN is the most accurate weapon in the game. I absolutely love it. Especially on open maps when I have the MN with the scope...... The Scoped ones are good, but every now and again I switch to the Germans and the Kar-98K just seems so superior... could be me though but that's what I've found...
johncage Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 the rifles and especially scroped weapons are actually a bit "dumb down" compared to the first game. bullet drop is calculated in real time, but there is no simulation of wind and other factors that might alter a bullet's trajectory, presumably because it's too demanding, but at least a simulated degree of error would have been good. i find i am able to score 500+ meter kills fairly easily without much adjustment for drop simply by always aiming at their head/chest area.
Rawlings Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I play it too and I think I am not the worst in the Battle.
GordonFreeman Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Hi guys ! This game is probably the best WW2 Fps shooter ever, and one of the best fps currently played. I'm from {G.F.A} team which dispute the official Red orchestra 2 competition ! You can find details about it here : http://www.twiladder.com/ I would never push you to much to play this awesome fps, so go play on it or buy it if he's not in your steam library yet ! Add me on steam if you need some help or tips on it and see you on the battlefield {G.F.A} Gordon Freeman

I believe the rifles start off with a lower accuracy, and as you level up a weapon it gain improved stats.
Neil Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 400h . Love this game, (my favorite FPS with Killing Floor) very good quality. I find it difficult, frustrating, but I love it so much! My favorite role is machine gunner!
MarcoRossolini Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Machine gunner? I find myself just getting sniped all the time. I'd like to get better but the DP-28 is hardly the most exciting piece on the block. The Mosin-Nagant for me, if not the good old PPSH...
6S.Manu Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Oh God. Yesterday I was traumatized when I made a match in RO2 after spending 1 hour in Ghost Recon: Phantom. I am ashamed of myself...
