How do I get rid of background music permanantly/

Easy question; I keep turning off music in settings but the next time I play its back again...What to do....what to do?

Not at my pc rn, but is music also in the startup.cfg?

if so, and if you have changed gamma settings below 0.8 and therefore changed the startup.cfg to „read only“ that might be the reason.

correct me if i‘m wrong

Sounds like that could be it...will go look & give it a try...I wonder if a simple solution would be disable it in startup.config somewhere?

I mean, if it is really there, you can uncheck the read only box on the file properties, launch the game, then disable sound and close the game again. Then before launching the game again, check the startup.cfg if all your graphics are still correct. If not, adjust accordingly, save the file. And do not forget: set to read only again

It actually is in the Startup.cfg, here's my settings:

    debug_radio = 0

    interface_music = 0
    quality = 1

    volume = 0.20000

Its ok but its been playing the tune for several years now & since I can't  have Max Steiner or Erich Korngold score it ,I think I'd rather have silence...BTW I did manage to curtail it in the startup file ...

BTW ...this score is perfect background music for tank missions too!
