Recommendations for a good entry-level headset

Recommended Posts

I'm playing online more and more these days and voice comms seem to be becoming a necessity to coordinate properly.

Any recommendations for a good starter gaming headset? I just need something with OK sound quality and some durability that won't break the bank. I don't need full sound canceling or anything like that. For preference I don't want one that requires the use of a USB plug to work, as I have enough cords tangling things up these days lol.

I'm in Canada if that helps.

A few questions.....

1.) Budget?

2.) Cord or Wireless? (I think you want to go with a cord setup as wireless usually uses a usb port)

3.) Do you use head tracking? (I use Trackir with pro clip. I had to find a set of head phones with smallish head band for the clip to fasten to.)

Budget about 50 to 75 dollars. Cord definitely. I use edtracker for headtracking so I can just tape it to the headset.

There are so many great reviews on YouTube you should check out for a full run down. I haven’t owned but get great reviews in your price range are “HyperX Cloud Stinger” all my research kept pointing towards them. Unfortunately they were got of stock in my area.

I would recommend getting an open-back headset or pair of headphones if you aren't going to be using them in an area where you need to be super quiet, open-backs are superior to closed-back headphones for sound quality.
