Not to reprise a closed topic, just to say that despite the horrific footage from yesterday it appears that the inner roof has, in large part, survived and thus preserved much of the interior.  “Miracle”  might well be an apt word.

Wasn't the structure built about a dozen times before it actually stayed up?

Yes, hopefully the rest of the structure remains stable.

Yup, it's good to see pictures of the interior. Definitely looking better than the video from outside might have suggested, though structural masonry can be seriously weakened by fire (and by thermal shock, which is one reason why water-bombing buildings on fire isn't wise...), so the extent of damage will still need to be assessed.

Amazing work of the Paris firefighters! Seems like they managed to save most of the building under very difficult and dangerous conditions!
